They never reply, not replying is part of the process even :D

Though, I do wonder how many pages do not get added due to an editor not liking you, or your site.

I'm patiently waiting, and waiting, I submitted right before the place crashed, so I'd guess they have a lot of backup...and the fact there is no editor in my specific category likely does not help (which is why I submitted an editor app as well). But I looked at the editors page in an upper category, and it does seem that they have the site my friends and I broke away from listed as one of their bookmarks...

Now I have another reason why my site might not get added...the editor hates my site *smirk*

Then again, one would hope this is not the case:
Their "conflicts of interest" page also touches on this, it can be found here: http://dmoz.org/guidelines/conflict.html

Overall though, I'd hope that MOST editors are on the up & up, and do not limit which pages are added on their own affiliations or personal preferences and that they base their decision on each page's own worth.

I'm still patient, and I still have hope that my site is in the queue someplace, and not simply rejected due to some tiff I had on another site.

Your site may not be of the quality they are looking for. Remember that DMOZ editors have guidelines they have to follow.

You can always get any shit that you want in DMOZ, as long as you hire one of the senior editors for your "SEO" project. ;)

The funny thing about this whole DMOZ issue is I am actually listed in DMOZ and musicmoz as a recording artist despite never being signed. I just make music in my bedroom and sold the odd white label and internet MP3.

I got in DMOZ and no I didn't hit suggest url.

The thing is now I actually have a handfull of sites that I want to suggest, I've suggested a URL tonight, and judging from what I've read about recent DMOZ activity, I am truely scared that I may not get a listing.

You made recordings and you sold. Sounds like a recording artist to me. :)

    This is easy

Dont worry about your quality website, information, rank top ten, etc, right now Dmoz is a monopoly of some webmasters on each category...

    Best regards,

yep most categories don't even have editor

I use to have "monopoly" over few categories but now they are just plain dead (and all this whining from me will probably get them entirely deleted :D )

Ivan, you know that's not fair. Editors like myself edit categories that don't have a named editor. There's no such thing as a category without an editor.

And a user that applies to be editor and becomes editor to such abandoned category gets kicked cause they got a forums about dmoz running. Now that just means dmoz is run by eMetas not by people but evil folks. :p . No wonder ivan got removed. :D

So till that trend continues forget about dmoz totally. And concentrate on marketing your sites. Marketing drives traffic and traffic does wonders. Dmoz does not drive traffic.

Well, no reason to be upset.
I have a site online since 1996 and never got it listed
Also without being listed the other search bots are daily visitors and have tens of thousand of entries
    Sincerely

Yes but there are many editalls so you don't have "monopoly" like I did on obscure categories which see editor only in leap years. :D
