Duplicate Info - Will google think Im naughty?

Hi,

I have recently used a few free-articles from an article site on my own site. Will google punish me for this as its considered duplication ? If so what sort of punishment would they dish out ?

imo, as long as there is a little variation in the content of the page, there won't be a duplicate content penalty

 

A few shouldn't really cause a problem, but if you really want your site to be successful, you should look for original content.....

 

Has anyone ever really figured out the rules for duplicate content, how G detects it and what the punishment is if detected?

Anyone know of any useful references or links?

Well trusted sites can sometimes get ranking for a duplicate page. For a new site, it's going to pull down the reputation of the whole site, and you'd better not risk it.

I don't think your few copied articles are going to trigger a penalty for your site. Just don't expect those pages with the articles to rank for anything.

Actually, the forums are great places for getting ideas on what to write about.. there are a lot of common ones that show up....
