Hi DP, ive almost met another goal for myself, to get 100,000 rank on alexa without paying a penny for traffic. im at 125k rank http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=mydentify.com hopefully i can meet my goal and raise the bar for myself! -Tim p.s. dont pay for traffic at first...you could save alot of $$
OK... so are you going to give some useful information or are you just waiting for a pat on the back?
I don't pay for traffic either...now sure how you personally do it though. My choice is article marketing.
ofcourse im going to give useful information i just posted to soon cause my internet keeps kickin out for some reason. pats on the back ar nice,..but i love to help others since dp has been so kind to me. here are some things i think about. 1. never pay for anything without trying to get it free first. e.g. dont jump right into adwords or paid traffic. try things, forums, communities, directories, friends blogs get your name out there. if all else fails? try something out that costs a little bit of $ 2. Optimize your website as best as possible, constantly trying to find was to make it better. 3. Quality versus quantity. do not make 5 "half-a$$ed" sites. make one and stick to it. once its self sufficient, make another. get good origional content and produce it faithfully. 3. optimize your images and add an alt tag to it. 4. set goals for yourself. once you make that goal raise it a little. e.g. my goal m first year was 50k visits for 2006. my goal this year is 1.5 milion 5. never settle for a failure. always try to be productive and go to bed with a smile saying, wow i feel accomplished. if not make sure you do tomorrow. alot is commonsense,...but common sense does work.
Solid advice.... everyone wants get-rich-quick/get-traffic-quick schemes, but what you need to do is just set goals and work on them. *pats timallard on the back*
Best I've ever had for Alexa was 40,000; although I wouldn't get hung up on their rankings. Pay more attention to your unique visitors as Alexa is nothing more than a very loose guideline. Colm
^^ very true. Alexa barely matter man. I got this site where my ranking is 1,20,000 odd ranking right now and it barely gets 100 uniques per day :S
Sounds advice, indeed, but what if you don't have the time to do all that? That is why you hire someone else to do SEO, or PPC for you - to save time. You can't always just do things yourself.
I have a site thats a little over a year old now and at 145,000 on alexa rankings...it should be in top 100k in 2007.
