I've completely disappeared today. I mean totally. We've been Number 1 for our product name (and rightfully so, I'd like to think), for as long as we can remember (okay, somewhere over 2 years), and now we've completely disappeared, replaced at Number 1 by some jerk who does nothing but badmouth us and our product. This could be disastrous. I've been digging through organic SERPs with no luck-we are nowhere to be found, though a site: search says we're there. Anyone have ideas/been there/know what to do?
This is pretty well the same with us. Generally if we don't change anything and we're down for no apparent reason we're going to be up quite soon. Sometimes I can even catch it with a datacenter check before it rolls out (like I did today for two different sites). The bizarre thing is that everything was stable this morning and now this afternoon about 5-6 sites alone have significantly changed rank. Sometimes the movement was restricted to one keyword while the rest remained stable, sometimes it was movement across the board. This likely means changes are afoot since the sites aren't that related and cover a relatively large swathe of industries.
Well seems like my rankings are back. It was almost as if I was seeing old data, but now my site is back where it was for its keywords.
yeah i had a few drops but also a few bumps up for different sites on different keywords. It seems to happen relatively often.
I see many sites with some low competitive keywords has been filtered/give them a probation period from Google. Many sites ranking down coz Google filtered their links out. I feel some major change in SERPs will happen.
I use my own tool, Geo SEO which checks your ranking in each country. /end plug Which brings up another point, it's important to check your ranking in each country you want traffic from, not just google.com etc..
I don't think people should be too surprised if they find they are being demoted in the SERPS a little. This could entirely be because some of your competitors are doing better. However, when you dissapear totally for all your keywords, it just is not on.
My site is back, but only to position 3. Hasn't moved since it reappeared, either. Definitely agree that something could be brewing.
I think it's over. I've noticed about a 40% change in sites I monitor on google (all moved up between 1-30 spots) and a 90% change on Yahoo (some went up 1-100, a few went down 100-300).
I know their updates are much more frequent now. We've actually seen a rise in rankings and more traffic recently, not less. Do you have more competition in your field now?
You are right "DarkBrothers"....i too saw some changes in the rankings of my few websites....but it seems to be normal for me now..as it always dances from top to the last on the 1st page....or sometimes 2nd page too.... Regards Puneet M
Same here -- hooray for us! SERPs positions are always shuffling around - some of us win some of us lose....
