I think the word you are looking for is denomination....for example, mormons claim to be Christian, however, they don't believe in the Trinitarian God, therefore to Catholics and most protestant denominations, mormons are not Christian...
I have a reason, but no incontrovertible evidence. Carl Sagan had faith in humanity as well. "You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty" — Mahatma Gandhi Perhaps words of Gandhi would mean nothing to a Christian such as yourself. What a shame...
I think the bible is not creditable... well the way I see it... since i'm non-believer.. the people always used to need to believe that there was a power over them.. example the Egyptians prayed for the nile so it won't flood...
You mean the AntiChrist? No. The AntiChrist are all who are against Jesus Christ. Hence, the name AntiChrist. Col
A bit late, and I have only read a few pages, but here goes. NOWHERE does it say that Adam was homosapien male and eve homosapien female. It simply said Adam was made in his own image. Now as God is simply a thought what does this mean? In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word WAS God! So that means that Adam was a word, a thought, a pure form? OK so take this back a alittle and you have adam as being the male chromosome set and Eve the female. The bible is not to be taken literally, it is not a literal work, it is a work that was translated and written by men, and because of this we have to look at it subjectively. EG. how do you define 'day', as in on the second 'day'? A day in the north pole is 6 months! NOWHERE in the bible does it state, 24 hours = 1 day, so a day in creation could in fact be a million years, a day could mean an epoch. MUCH of the bible is symbolic, so to all those who say it is complete and utter rubbish, I suggest you look at it from that angle.
That is correct. The Egyptians couldn't explain what was going on so they make up gods such as the sun god, rain god, etc. However, we now know what they didn't. We know God exists and that his Son, Jesus, died for our sins.
Come on mate. Give us a real question. Also, how about pulling up your socks for spelling. It's Mary, not Marry Did you not read my post?? Why would it be only one person. If you are against Christ then would not you be considered as anti to Christ? If so, there are millions of people who against Christ. Col
It makes him his Son. We don't use the same interpretation as He does. He doesn't need to be married to Mary to have a child. That is why she is called the Virgin Mary.
It's also called the Immaculate Conception. God made it so according to the Bible and had to be that way for all prophecies to be fulfilled. Col
Man is evolving and will one day evolve to either: - Be beyond the need to belive in a God - Discover God exists and then see whether all these religious leaders had a clue what they were talking about. My thoughts on man's evolution to the truth.
Yes, thank you. I don't have all the answer to your questions people. I only have little experience with the Bible but I'm using what I know. I'm learning as I go.
bastard : a person born of unmarried parents; an illegitimate child. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bastard
Mary was a virgin therefore she never had sex with a man. Therefore, there is so such thing as parents.
I don't think there will be a day that we discover god will exist.... The point of religion is to never see god... but to worship him... to believe...
a couple of points here (boring but hey ho). Mary & Joseph were 'betrothed' and under Jewish law, From the time of being betrothed the woman was classed as the lawful wife of the man to whom she was betrothed (Deuteronomy 28: 30; Judges 14: 2,8; Matthew 1: 18-21). so for all intents and purposes they WERE married. OK what is marriage.? Marriage is the joining together of a man and a woman in the eyes of GOD. So GOD when he made mary pregnant would instantly have recognised them as being married. This is the same God that planted the seed of Jesus. Just a couple of simple points here, not on a religious ground of course, as we don't want to let emotion get in the way of facts do we (facts that is according to the story of the bible, we assume we are going down this route as by discussing the virgin birth, I assume we are using the bible as a point of refrence and not debating what happened as being fact) phew
This could have been a good explanation if they claimed Jesus was the son of Joseph but they don't, so it even makes the matter worse. Being married to one man and getting pregnant by someone else.
