75 using the test but it's only when you sustain it over 5 minutes that it becomes meaningful from a true typing perspective. In the mean time it's good for coders and forumites because we tend to type smaller chunks of text before pausing to consider our brilliance ;)

84 WPM at Weirfire's link. I haven't taken a typing test since the mid-80s. Surprised I can still type that fast. All those typing drills Sergeant Salas used to put me through has paid off :D

I was certified at 65 WPM clear. I hit 120 at peak but it was full of errors.

I was the only boy in the office machines class in high school in the early 70's. It was a great oportunity to flirt. Didn't get me anywhere though ;(

I then forgot everything I knew. A couple of years later in college I found myself two finger typing on a keypunch machine. I though to myself ... self ... this is nuts. I forced myself to touch type. It took half a semester to get to full speed. Keypunch machines taught you the importance of accuracy. There is no backspace. Make a mistake and you have to eject the card and start over. The modern machines let you duplicate up to just before the mistake and continue. Either way took a LONG time. It was a lot better to slow down and not make the mistake. Nowadays I just let fly and wear out the backspace key ;)

I used to do keypunching at a bank for my dad when I was a young kid.

I took weirfire's test and received the humble score of 57 WPM. Not bad for two finger typing...

Anyone use the Dvorak keyboard. It would be interesting to see if you got a higher score :)

Oh wow.. 85 WPM for me. I really didn't think I was that fast. Coolio :) Accuracy of 100% too.

I don't even type right. Not two finger, but I don't use the home keys.. I just hover my fingers above the keyboard and start typing away :p I also don't use my left thumb for space.. I use my pointer finger for my right hand, and my thumb just for my left hand, although its rare that I use my left hand for a space. :) Usually just at the end or beginning of a sentance, but mid-sentance I use my right hand.

I know, I'm weird.. but it works! :) Only problem I have is with numbers.. I can't type those without looking, but for letters and puncuation and stuff, I might as well be blindfolded.

I think 30 words per minute is fast enough for me.
