Hi John.. no I can't and I don't know if Google can or not. I wasn't trying to say that Google was right on the whole V7N issue and I don't think they are, actually.

Just brought it up because it was the most recent statement that Matt made about link buying/selling.

A good paid post (IE: Contact the blogger directly, no 3rd party service has to know) shouldnt be easy to detect, I think. Bloggers DO blog about cool sites, right? :)

PPP has relaxed the disclosure comments per post. They leave it up to the individual that is looking for bloggers.

PPP does indeed all posts disclose that they are sponsored, in each and every post. Reviewers will reject a post if it is not disclosed, despite blogwide disclosure statements.

That little PayPerPost button, though, not required. Some folks just like to use it in hopes of recruiting new bloggers for a commission. I think using it regularly junks up your posts.

If you can name the link in there that is paid I will give you $100. You have to say how you knew it was paid. :)

The whole FTC issue is for sponsored Word of Mouth marketing and affiliate sales. It would be a stretch to say a simple link falls under that category. And, with a system like the V7N contextual links, I really don't how see any algorithm would detect these without getting just as many false positives.

While I respect Matt Cutts for a lot of things he writes about, sometimes he comes off as a Google FUD dispenser.

I've never purchased V7N contextual links, but I'm tempted to just as a case study to prove that Matt is blowing smoke.

<g>Anyone up for creating a graphic: A Matt Cutts Pez dispenser with FUD printed on the candy? It'd be good link bait...
