Squidoo and SEO - any positive experiences

Hi,

I've heard that setting up squidoo lenses is a good way to get ranked highly in the SE's. (Squidoo at http://www.squidoo.com).

Does anyone have any comments to make about squidoo with regards to rankings?

Hi Adam,

I have seen many times, squidoo lens come up in the first page of google search results. Since theses lenses are just a few months old, it sure looks like an effective method.

Yes I've seen squidoo lenses come up quite a bit on the first page of google results as well. One of the things I'm really interested in is how long they stay there for. For instance, if I were to put up a squidoo lens around a niche topic I would like to know how long it would stay indexed in the top results of google....and if the lens would require constant fresh content or not.

i believe squidoo equals high quality backlink.

 

I'm not sure about SEO yet, but I put up a Squidoo lense and did a little promotion to my list. As of this writing, it is the #3 lens. Whether this will translate into additional traffic or SEO has yet to be seen.

Yeah, Squidoo is working really well for me. It's a good source of backlinks too. A few of them are in my sig...

 

Yep, Squidoo Lens send some decent traffic as well! It would be in everyone's best interest to create a Squidoo Lens for the category of their websites and get links to your site

How many people are on your mailing list?

 

Blogspot is also ranking highly for many terms, but we shouldn't all rush out and create a blogger account.

That said, I have used Squidoo, and it has its uses.

 

Most blogspot's rank only if the blogger is frequent..Others are just splogs..

 

Well, thanks for the replies everyone. I will do a few tests myself and report back here with results.

 

I've had great experiences with HubPages, a site very similar to Squidoo (it is more simplistic than Squidoo is), but often times the HubPage or Squidoo Lens will outrank your own website, so it is good for some things, but be careful.

I guess a little advertising never hurts ;-) Good luck with it. I haven't had much impact from it, yet.

 

I have a college focused cafepress t-shirt company. According to analytics I get 35% of my traffic from Squidoo, its number one for my keyword with the cafepress page on the 3rd page. Its well worth your time because squidoo ranks well. + Its a good backlink IMHO

 

SEO... let's just say if anyone in my class of 86 does a search for anyone elses first name + surname + the name of the high school (or even the suburb) they're gonna end up at the Squidoo lens that I made. On the more obscure names you don't need to have the high school name.

 

Good source of traffic, because squidoo is a bookmarking site. Offer bookmark trades and your traffic would increase.
