Hey guys, I'm working on a presentation about online advertising. I'd like to put a few examples of the most *annoying* and *intrusive* ads around. But I can't seem to find any. Looks like they may have gone the way of the animated gif background. Anyway, can someone point me to some sites that still implement these types of ads? Examples of what I'm looking for are: Punch the Monkey Flashing *You've Won* (seizure inducers) Jumping Smilies Thanks
Jumping Smilies Code (markup): bollywoodjunction *com Code (markup): however pop up blockers are the most irritating adds.
Oh my, how could I have forgotten MySpace! Thanks, I got a few ringtone ones from there Any idea where to find the flashing "you've won" ads?
The one that says I am the 139,194,581 visitor on this site and I win $10,000. That and the one with the smilies that say something when you hover of their image.
the siezure banners!!! Seeing those makes me feel like reloading the page 10,000 times to eat up advertising $$$$
Then why look at them? ADBLOCK For FireFox as well as the addon filterset G lets you block all ads. It changes your browsing experience entirely.. you know, with no ads and all
"Using an ad blocker is like eating at a restaurant and leaving no tip. It's the ultimate of all dick moves."
omg all of the ads from.. Netzero internet ( remember the free dialup provider back in 2000?) wow.. pop ups everywhere, it was totally not worth the $10 it saved me a month lol.
Many of these come from casalamedia a CPM based paying company, you can find those ads on high traffic websites especially entertainment niche. Amit
Audio, I totally forgot about that medium. Then I must say the most annoying ads are: 1) people who approach you and try to sell you junk 2) AND Telemarketers!!!
Pop-ups and pop-unders; plus of course ones which attempt to force-install crap on your computer In terms of aesthetics, anything which shouts at you isn't a good thing... i've lost count how many times i've almost jumped out of my skin after forgetting my speakers were switched on and one of those things screamed at me
