They banned it two years ago here in Holland, but the government has excluded minimum wage rates etc. until now. I think it is to discourage young people to quit school/university and go working fulltime. That's just what I think it is.
In my country i don't know the minimum wage But the minimum Salary here is like 150$ I work at more then that 1500k/month
I think in reality (or should I say in purchasing power parity), that is true in only a few countries. If it's a nominal figure, then that is true in a lot of countries.
You work eight hours for me I'll pay ya more through PayPal, but be online all the time on your own expense, contact me on MSN or through PM IT
Its all realtive. You can't compare the US with some 3rd world country. Of course, they will have a ton of people who probably earn $1 a day even. Its not a fair comparison.
In the US, the Federal minimum wage is $5.15. However, if you're working at those rates, life isn't going to be too good for you. I have three people that work part-time for me, and I pay them all $15 an hour, which is a really good deal because the work they do is extremely easy, I just don't have the time to do it anymore.
$5.15 is not a lot at all! Some people work below that (illegal immigrants?) working "under the table", it's sad really.
It's sad that the people working for these extremely low rates are actually performing some of the hardest (and in some cases, most degrading) work there is
It is the "promise land" here in the west... um, I doubt they see it like that once they reach here. Another sad thing is that phD and Masters who immigrate here are working at labour jobs/low paying jobs when they have so much knowledge, just lacking the fluent english language.
that's true, I seem to remember 89 cents a gallon being the norm back then! But of course I didn't exactly help my case my driving a fuel guzzling Camaro
Minimum wage here in Finland is €5,46 per hour, no-one works with that salary though...I would say minimum is about €7 per hour (fast food restaurant workers, cleaners etc get about that much), but everything also costs much so it can't be compaired directly to other countries.
I have a friend living in Romania studying in Uni. His father gives him 1.5K a month to spend. He says he's living like a King. Soon i'm gonna check out that country... in the summer.
