I finished work but was refused payment - what do i do?

Hi All,

I'm very angry, upset about me not getting the payment. i finished the work of writing 6 articles n one of which was a 2000 word article and the other was a 400 word article for $53. I havent heard from him since two weeks now. No payment no emails nothing. He used to be inregular touch with me prior to that, but now he doesnt respond to my emails. he has published the articles on his website too. What do i do, how do i get my payment ?

Can you tell us his site URL and article URLs?

 

i will be giving it to mods directly if i dont hear from him in a week more. Its a technology blog site. I wudnt wana give the site right now. Hope you dont mind.

Was it a member of this site then? When did they last login? Did they have an iTrader rating?

 

I think you should just try and contact him and resolve this yourself as mods don't moderate personal disputes.

Yep, for any online work, at least get 50 % payment upfront. Or better get 100%, no pay, no work. My sympathies with you, amigo.

 

I think you should give the guy some time... maybe he doesn't have the money and he's kind of embrassed about it.... because he knows you won't go down quietly...

I have written several mail, no response still. What will you do is what i wana know. If you'll are in my position what will be your next step.

Its not that he never paid. I had been doing this for about a month for him now and he used to pay me on time but this time is has been over two weeks now. BTW, what is an escrow service ?

I'm just trying to avoid naming him now in a hope that he will return and we will soon have a long relationship again, else i shall reveal. I wanted to know, if you can think of any way or rather suggest me what should be my next move.

I thought its like $5 an article and 423 for the 2000 word article i worte for him, he will pay on time like always. But i see him online on gmail. But he doesnt respond. He has published the article on hiw website too. How do i get to him to get my money.

If he doesnt have then i have written so many polite emails to him, he didnt reply to a single one. do yo'll suggest me to write a Harsh email and demand my money right now.

 

I think you should just give him one week.. If he doesn't reply... then send him another harsh email.. give him 24 hours to reply.. then if he doesn't report him to the mods...

My point is when you report him to the mods there 90% chance he won't pay anything....

 

The only thing you can do at this point is leave him a negative itrader. In the future you should ask for at least half a deposit up front, and if they don't agree, don't do business with them. It is sad to see you got scammed. Hopefully he'll pay, but if he doesn't, you don't want to make this mistake again.

I've been scammed like you, but it was only for $4 bucks. I will not allow myself to get scammed for hundreds of bucks. If someone comes to me with a project that is worth $300 bucks, I want to see cash up front, no questioned asked. If you've been a member of Digital Point for two years like me, and you've got 51 itraders with no negatives and 1600+ posts, you can demand deposits up front. If they don't want to pay, I tell them to take a hike. I don't believe in working for free.

I guess you should forget about the payent anyways.
No way is such a fellow gonna pay you up.
The best you could do is to write a harsh email about a week latter demanding your money but I doubt even if that is going to work.

Imp: Always take advance payments from buyers for all work that you intend to do for them.
Leave a bad iTrader for the fellow so that he doesn't scamms other DP members

Can i do anything like put him into scammers list. So that all DP'ers be aware fo him or atleast get him banned.

I think you have been scammed.

As everybody have said, make sure you get some sort of deposit.

Guys i have good news for everyone. I have been payed my $53 today be the person. Although the reason for the delay in payment was not mentioned. But i wanted to inform everyone that the payment has been made and i'm very happy as i had worked hard for those articles.

 

The only way this should be done is money up front. It's the only way I do business. I have been ripped off too many times in the past. Sometimes I turn clients away because of it but so be it. I ain't gonna be scammed again by this method. Good to see it finally worked out for you.
