All we know it's not good to host all your directories on the same server. Well,I do have some directories and currently all of them are hosted on hostgator. Now I want to host each directory on a separate ip,can you guys recommend me a good host that I can have different Class C IP's. I can get more dedicated ip's on hostgator for a small fee,but they are not Class C IP's.That's why I'm posting this thread. Thanks for your help!
Hi Richie, I have used Rackspace which are on the expensive side but usually pretty good with requests... on the cheaper side, sagonet.com are not too bad although you should contact them first about the c-class as I have not had to request it from them before. HTH
Hello... Well finally HOSTGATOR has made me a great deal and are able to let me expand more. they have seveal different packages. Richi get on messenger will explain better if you like. thx malcolm
well once again .. i'd say www.qoozz.com << good reliable ... almost no downtime i faced in over 6 month of the time i am using it .... good plans fast support
Thanks for the suggestion! Hello malcolm, I just sent you a pm coz there's a problem with msn atm, look forward to hearing from your side.
Dreamhost offers individual C-class IPs ($4 per month per IP ~ approx) for individual sites, I have two directories hosted by them But my Trincas Directory is hosted by Bluehost, I am quite happy with their service.
Thanks guys! But I think dedicated ip's are not different Class C ip's? btw, anyone have experience about http://asmallorange.com/ ? The tiny package looks great and it costs $25 per year.
At Servage you can host unlimited domain names for $6.45/m and then add a dedicate IP for each of your domains if you want to. IPs are only $19.95 per year and you are presented with a list to choose from.
Thanks to all!I appreciate your help! Honestly I would like to buy one package for one directory. So I don't care much about it. BTW,some people told me that the dedicated IPs are not different class C ips,is that true?
true...they may not be from different blocks. only clustered hosts can generally offer different class c ip's as you are not put on a single box but a full cluster. very few single boxes can have different class c's routed to it by the DC.
I don't think it is neccesarily a big deal if you have ip addresses from the same class C network. A class C address is simply an address within a subnet. Class C subnets have a default mask of 255.255.255.0, which means all ones in the network portion and all zeros in the host portion. So you could have an address 201.35.25.X and then 201.35.25.X+1 and it would be in the same Class C subnet, but completely different dedicated ip addresses. The reason people talk about Class C subnets so much is that Class A and B subnets use up so many host addresses, they aren't very practical. When designing ip addressing, the original networkers didn't think computers/IT would blow up so much and so many ip addresses would be needed. This is the reason for IPv6.
I found Hostmonster to be cheap and with massive size and download. They also have a number of free scripts for directories, forums, etc. visit http://www.article-gems.com for a linking banner
