I was curious if there were any NASCAR fans on the site? I know, I'm probably the only one on board . . . but I thought I'd ask.
I could start a debate about Formula 1 vs. Nascar if you wish Better not I like watching racing very much but I don't find anything besides F1 interesting enough. Maybe that's because Nascar and Champ car are not so popular and it is not easy to follow it because the races are always in different time zone than mine? Is Montoya in Nascar now?
Yes, Montoya ran in the Daytona 500 last Sunday. If I remember correctly he placed 19th. I think he will rise to the top, as usual! He also ran in the Busch race at Daytona -- but I think he had motor problems. Can't remember where he placed in it.
If I remember correctly he won some 24h race a month ago? He is now the second racer who won F1 race, Indianapolis 500 and that one I can't remember. I really enjoyed watching him in F1...
Yep, he won the Daytona 24 hour endurance race (Rolex 24). I think he's going to run full time this year on the Nextel circuit -- which is a lot of racing. NASCAR is a huge sport here. Montoya is considered a "rookie" if you can believe that! But, all that means is that he's new on the circuit. I think I heard him say that his goal is not to win Rookie of the Year award, but to win the Nextel Cup! Wouldn't surprise me if he did. But, I have to root for my driver, Tony Stewart.
Used to live for NASCAR. But, I've since given up my season tickets and watch on TV if it's on and I'm near a TV. I'm disenchanted with the new rules, I can't believe that they now race Toyotas, and the races can all be summed up in crappy 10 lap shoot outs. I now consider NASCAR the WWF of racing. :/
I agree it has changed a lot since Earnhardt died and since they switched over to Nextel. Toyota has a black eye from the get go since that deal with Mikey's team last week. IMO, I would like to see a shorter race season and shorter races. I don't much care for the cookie cutter tracks, either. But, I'm in front of the TV each week watching.
I doubt I'll ever be able to ignore it. But the days of planning to be somewhere to watch the race specificly are gone for me. I can't find a hero among the greed. NASCAR has forgotten it's roots in the common folks.
I think there is much more fun in F1 and there are much nicer tracks and after all it is a bigger show. I can't wait to go to watch the race live. The most probably it will be Hungary or Imola...
Yep...in fact, I just put up a NASCAR social network site. http://www.OvalFan.com Let me know what you think. Mike
I watch any kind of racing I can get my hands on! It's mostly F1, GP2, DTM, WTCC, Formula 3, A1GP and STCC but I do watch some NASCAR whenever I can. Oh, and I run a motorsports website so I do have to to keep track of the NASCAR drivers. http://www.driverdb.com
