    Honetly - I believe U R chasin yer tail Mad .....

    1. As stated, many of them are likely quality links
    2. The main domain has authority ( I have been stating Subs are seen in the aggregate of the site)
    3. Google has NEVER to my knowledge bumped anyone for dodgey links. They simply don't value them

The big boys like ePinions, Shopping.com and BMW have been caught at far more devious techniques and they only got a slap on the wrist. IT is VERY unlikely any large/brand name site would be tossed as it would effect the quality of the results. These situations are handled differently.

I doubt anyone at G is going to care -

You see, if you could tank them by simply screaming "Spammy Links" then the world of 'GoogleBombing' would start up. So it is a non started really...

Have you disemintated the link profile? any REALLY nasty ones?

There are no really nasty ones. Most are Coop links as far as I can see although obviously I didn't look at many of the links.

If they all come from the coop they must have a LOT of weight.........

I think 100 uniques for being number 1 on MSN is pretty accurate.

Just saw this has been covered on http://www.cellular-news.com/story/22205.php (not connected to me, I just spotted it in my RSS reader).

    Edit: Its also on digg.

Me too, what's the big deal?

I’m not sure what the hype is about? I just checked and yes they do have a LOT of back links. But I also just searched for mobile phones. In Google three are the ONLY brand I recognise in the natural listings? If you ask me, they deserve to be there?

Their website is older than the others it has more indexed historical pages. I think perhaps Mad4 is a little upset that they have taken your position, or perhaps knocked you back a place?!

Mad4 you admit you use DP. So, the reality is you are upset that someone has more weight than you??!

I used to use the Coop but then stopped last year when I sold the site that ran the ads. Three haven't taken my place or knocked any of my sites back. None of my sites (only one of which is about mobile phones) even try to compete with a billion dollar mobile phone network.

As stated before I just find find it strange/interesting that a multinational company is using the coop on such a large scale and that the coop is capable of giving somebody so many links. 3.4 million links is over a million more than Apple.com has (which is one of the very few PR10 sites) and millions more than the wikipedia homepage.

Some people don't like the fact I am pointing this out but for anybody who wants to know why some sites rank higher than others this sort of information is interesting.

If lots of large companies start pointing millions of links at their websites then its not good news for anybody on DP who is promoting smaller sites. Furthermore it is bad news for the Coop as it brings it bad publicity and makes Google more likely to do something about it.
