Dog Information Site - Lot's Of Unique Content

    Hi all,

The site I’m listing is http://www.dogbreedhelp.com. This site was launched early 2006, after I found how large the dog market is. Just by looking at the search totals through Wordtracker, the following terms show how much potential a dog information site has:

    Dog Breeds: 5,762/day
    Dogs: 56,219/day

With individual breeds like “Yorkshire Terrier” getting 2,344 searches per day, I thought (and still think) there is clear potential in a site about dogs.

Anyway, back onto the sale itself. It’s quite obvious that if you continuously put work into a site, you’ll reap the rewards. Unfortunately this is what I haven’t done. While on the site’s launch I invested heavily in unique content (five main articles on training etc, forty two articles on individual dogs), I haven’t done anything since. This means the site has slowly dropped out of the rankings, and hasn’t come near to the traffic it was receiving in the late part of January 2006:

    http://www.dogbreedhelp.com/sale/stats-old.jpg
http://www.dogbreedhelp.com/sale/stats-old2.jpg (I was ranked on the first page on MSN for “dog breeds”)

As you can see, the traffic there is so much higher than what the site is receiving now:

    http://www.dogbreedhelp.com/sale/current-stats.jpg

As for revenue, there isn’t much to report. It’s made a few dollars since it’s launch from Amazon, so this is something a new owner needs to pursue further. A positive from the Amazon stats is that on the few clicks it’s received, it has a 10.53% conversion rate. With all of the pet affiliate programmes around though, I’m sure there are better alternatives.

So, to recap what’s for sale. It’s a dog information site with a lot of unique content, all written by experts. It’s worth mentioning that I paid hundreds of dollars for this content. Also, the site is over a year old meaning that with some TLC (as they say in the dog world), it could achieve some very nice rankings. All it needs is a few updates a year and some incoming links to make it regain the good rankings it once had. If I had the resources I would do it, but other avenues have recently opened and this site has dropped on my priority list.

Prices then. I put a lot of money into this at the start, so I want a fair deal. Bidding starts at $150. I have a reserve in mind, but I’ll keep that to myself for now.

Any questions just reply or PM me…

    Thanks,
    Mike

Is there a management system in place? Have you tried Adsense? Looks like it got a PR2 from PR4 in the recent update. With no revenue, low PR, and no traffic, there's not much besides the content. I'm interested, PM me and we can talk.

I'd also like to know if it has a backend. Do you have a BIN in mind?

    Thanks.

I would also like to have a look at the management system, plus if there is any template management as I would like to convert it to xhtml/css rather than tables.

providing it gets my thumbs up I am happy to bid $160

Thanks for the interest everyone. It hasn't got a CMS in place, I've just added manually through phpmyadmin for now.

As for BIN, I'm not too sure at the moment although somewhere in the region of $500 would probably be about right for me. It's the content that makes the site at the moment, and as I said, this cost me a fair amount of money and I'd like to make some of it back.

So, if offers are still in place, the bid at the moment is $200.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Sorry for the blunt response guys, I accidently clicked post, and my edited version strangely didn't appear.

Anyway, it hasn't a CMS. It has forty two articles on dogs, with five articles on training etc. I add and edit through phpmyadmin.

As for BIN, I'm looking for $500. The site cost me a lot in content, and as it's a year old, it's got some potential and a good foundation.

    I've responded to all PM's...

    Thanks,
    Mike

you use the same crap content, PinoyIto is offering and selling in his multiple site sales.
same shitty dog database! you just scrambled the phrases from that database.

I realy don't get the point, why people here on digitalpoint buy every piece of shit without checking.

    Elwood,

I don't even know Mike, but I don't know how you came up with the accusations in your post. Looks to me like dogpage.info uses wikipedia info and the breeds I compared didn't have the same text at all. Which ones are the same content?

Would you like a definition of it? It means that no other site has my articles, which is obviously good from a SEO standpoint.

Yes Elwood, unique content. The same crap content? Perhaps you would like to take the time to actually look at my site, and realise that all the articles there are 100% unique. If you look at the site you show, he says clearly that the content is from Wikipedia. That is not unique.

The same database? The database is made up by me, I've selected the breeds I wanted to cover, and hired people to write about them. It's not the same at all. Of course there are going to be sites of a similar topic about the internet.

I don't know why you have had your little outburst, and the points you address don't seem to make sense.

Anyway, thanks to all of the other people who have replied and made an offer. The bid is still at $280...

    Mike
