Site A submits his site(non-directory), but reciprocal link is on site B which is another directory with a PR0 that looks like it exists to get around providing reciprocal links. Site C then submits another link(same owner) and uses Site B as the backlink. I let it through this time but not so sure again. Seems a bit conniving. Do you allow it?
We do not permit reciprocal links if you have doubts best you delete, as if the link is cloaking then you do not need those types on your site I am not saying it is cloaking but it sounds a bit iffy
This is called as 3 way linking which is not at all good in search engine optimization. So you should avoid this kind of linking.
Yes it is the old 3 way shuffle. I'm going to update my terms and conditions that the link needs to be from the site itself not some other site. Would be good if the PHPLD detected this and disallowed it.(or provided option to in Site Admin Menu(hint hint) Thanks for your feedback.
Yip, 3 way linking. Some directories do it to get one way links to some of their other sites. Not necessarily wrong but at least make sure the site you linking to is legit.
3 way linking is what I prefer actually. phpLD 3.1 has this features if you want to enable it. The way I see it is that. Site A wants to link to you (site B) then you want site A to Link to your other site (Site C) like a pyramid and not your actual typical reciprocal where site A links to site B and B links to A which makes it a reciprocal. Just because site A gives you a reciprocal and site A has a spammy site or places your link in some crummy page that is not even link to the home and wont be crawled at all, this is very common with people who would rather do a reciprocal than pay, well over 90% of people who submit a reciprocal with me are not good in quality and places my site in a page with 60 directories with it. Free backlink is how I see it from then on.
I have also encountered the same problems I allowed it for one or two linksthen I started to reject those links which had not got the same reciprocal links
I've had the same problem, so i've simply said that all recip links must be a PR3 or higher... that way no PR0 return links get through... i also tend to check to see if the page has actually been indexed by google etc.
Have been thinking the same - then I get to have a bit more say in where my backlinks come from. I find though that the only ppl offering backlinks are really dodgy ones. They are usually the first that I delete when it comes to approving sites ... lol
Nice there scart3r there are so many SLICK when it comes to submissions. They are taking advantage of NEW COMERS. I remember 1 UK Directory and Hosting and 1 of its affiliate TRIED to be SLICK with me. Its just a matter of time when I DELETED the APPROVED Submition.
I think it is important that you look at each individual link. A pr0 non-indexed link is not going to do you any good. If the reciprocal link is on a different but quality site then it can be an even better link than the site submitted. More often than not I find that people try to abuse the reciprocal link option and this just leads to their otherwise acceptable submission getting rejected.
Some great ideas here for coming out with my own personal solution that's right for my sites. Thanks.
