this sitewide link is offered on a site with these stats below... ILQ 24,372 | Y! 30 | DMOZ 1 | edu 509 | gov 21 the ILQ of my site is something like 300 ugh however, this site is not related to my site...it's a programming language site Will this help my rankings, will the very good quality of this site help me regardless of the fact that it is not relevent? It's very hard to find relevent sites in my industry, so i was hoping that some non-relevent heavy hitters would help. Thanks in advance!
I think he means inbound link quality. I say go for it but make sure to have a relevant sentence or two (with relevant keywords) surrounding your link.
$150 a month. I've seen two of my competitors who rank #1 and #3 linking from there, and this is for a keyword with 400,000,000 results. I'm currently #9 so i'm trying to reverse engineer and do what they are doing linkwise. Money is not as important as results. It's a big company i work for.
In that case, I would say give it a shot. It looks like you've done your research, and considering it's a monthly payment, if you don't see results after a few months, you can have the link removed.
I think I will, amongst other heavy hitting sites. I've had some success with DP linking, but it seems like more of a temporary boost - i guess some get devalued after a while - I'd really like to get some real serious links going so that i don't have to swim so hard to stay afloat. One link that IS relevent and ranks really well is $400 a month, but when you spend $30 per click on PPC keywords, $15 a day for a link on a site that will get at least one click through (plus seo benefit) seems like a pretty good deal I can't image that big SEO companies spend as much time as I have getting tons of so-so links. They get around $10,000 a month for one site, so they probably drop $2,500 or so in high quiality links and pocket the remaining $7,500 - or am i way off in thinking that this is how they work? Our old SEO company optimized the site ONCE and barely touched it, almost never added content (other than putting their clients cheezy links on our resources pages) Still they ranked #4 or #5 for keywords I'm contantly working on just to keep on the front page. Like I said we're talking 400,000,000 results or so, they must have been linking from high quality sites, right?
I think it is not needed to buy quality links that is not related to your site. There are free link exchange partner with quality. Try to join in the forum under relevant link exchange partners. It will help you in finding link exchange or evaluate first the traffic, page rank and the quality
That last sentence is interesting. I'm all blogged out and have a lot of varied links in all different areas. 95% of them are no where near having 509 edu and 50 gov backlinks though. This is probably the last area that i haven't really tried (mostly due to the high cost associated) but it looks like it's time to give this a try. Thanks for all your help folks!
I wouldn't pay $150/month for a plain old text link from any website that wasn't related. I don't care if it's NASA or whoever - a plain vanilla text link isn't worth that kind of money. Different story if the site is relevant. In that scenario you mentioned, I'd want a PAGE of my content, optimised with my keywords, with my link(s) embedded, and no other competing links. That page would then be relevant. And links on that page might then be worth the $150/month. Just my 2c
I think we're getting a little off track, the topic isn't is it worth it (this is subjective anyway) to a huge company $150 a month is nothing. The real question is: if a site has a LOT of juice - 500 edu links and 20 gov links like this site is no joke - sitewide interior pages all 7/10 pr - but is unrelated will it still help you in rankings? (with keyword phrase as your anchor text of course). Is a strong non-related site worth as much as a less strong related site?
I believe so. As mrsolutions states, a link from an authoritative site will help. I agree, and I am one who also feels that relevancy is over-hyped. One point I would make though is that the real question is "how much will a text link on a non-related authority site help?" I don't think it is possible to predict, but I think it will help. Also, I would not expect results in 2 or 3 months as suggested. If you are going to do it, I think a 7 month commitment to the plan is minimum before making a judgement and I'd probably wait a whole year before deciding whether to keep it. /*tom*/
I think you should not pay $150 for that. You can ask for some free period and if you get benefits, then you can use them. Not sure whether they will agree or not
