    Does anyone snowboard here?

I just need some advice. What type of board to you recommend for beginners (female, 5"5) ? Does the brand name matter? (such as Burton, etc or do they all work okay? I'm not too picky, I just want to go down mountains ha.)

I've snowboarded twice on a Burton, so I'm a huge beginner. Don't have anything to compare to, but it felt nice and I learned within ~4 hours well enough to go down blue squares.

A Burton eh? Yeah, the ski resort near the city rents off only Burton boards. Have you tried other boards other than Burton. Was there a difference?

Do you have sand where you live ;) Works just as well, minus the snow!

nowadays there are a lot of decent brands out there... I've owned 3 snowboards in my life ALL Burton's... I just bought my 7 year old daughter a Burton... they make good boards. I have also tried K2 and Gnu... both make decent boards.

Be sure to pick the right size board... this is where it can get confussing.

Have you even tried boarding yet???

I haven't tried boarding yet, just skiing.

How do I know which size to get? I'm just doing runs down mountains, small tricks (in the futur), a short board should be fine? I would also need a lady's board right?

I've used many different boards. For a beginner though, I would say the brand of your board is the least important factor. I would say:
    1. A good teacher
    2. Patience (and resilience)
    3. Good boots and bindings, so your feet/legs don't ache

I used to live near Blue Mountain, and thought it was great.

I went to Mt. St. Anne in Quebec this year, I'll never look back. Yes, it was an 8 hour drive, but worth every minute. For 3 day/night hill passes AND 3 nights accommodations in a sweet condo, it was only $215 per person.

That's cheaper than Blue, and 100000000x the boarding quality. A normal run takes 15 minutes to get down at a decent pace, but going through the glades can take up to 45 minutes!!!
