Newsleter Subscription Sites VS SPAM

What is better Simple SPAM or submitting releases to Newsletter sites.

When using newsletter websites. People who subscribed for getting an e-mail wait for that and read them for sure. The effectivness of such marketing activities is really higher. Sure you have to work on your press release to be interesting for users. But instead of simple SPAM people wait for an e-mail and open it, read and click if they are interested.

    Any opinions, experience?

Maybe links to newsletter websites that you've used?

I really think that newsletter marketing is much more effective.

People tend to ignore spam now, hardly anyone reads email
from people they don't know, but you get around this when
you submit a release to a newsletter.

If someone is on a newsletter mailing list then they are
interested in what the newsletter has to offer, and so your
message will actually reach more people.

Not only that, but spam is really untargeted, your just pointing
and hoping that you reach enough people in your target market,
but with a newsletter you can choose one that is specific
    to your market.

But tell me please, why didn't SPAM die?? I'll answer: because people still read this sh*t. I hope that percantage of reading people will go to Zero. That'll be the only reason for SPAMers to STOP THAT SPAM.

If nobody opens SPAM it will disappear!

Yes, its true that people still read spam, but not many people.

Spam is very much a numbers game, I'm certain that people
who do this for a living never expect more than a one in a
million or so conversion rate. The key is that they send out
obscene numbers of these things to get any sort of turnover,
and bulk email lists are relatively easy to generate if you
    can write a web spider.

Its certainly not the same high profit venture that it was
years ago, but they can still turn a buck provided they
can escape the law and whatnot.

Not really my cup of tea though, why would I want to work
in a field where I'm despised by most people, have to constant
run and hide from the law and doesn't even offer the promise
    of a huge return?

I suspect that most spammers now are young kids that pick up
a bulk email list on ebay and think its easy money. Or more
intelligent young kids that can code that set up spiders.

In some niche, using legitimate newsletter marketing is simply impossible. I'll have to say, you just gotta pick your battle.

I'd be interested in hearing about some newsletter websites people have used also.

There are numerous newsletter websites and they are mostly divided into special categories. There Law newsletters, real estate newsletters, technologies newsletters. So you should mention what category of subscribers do you want to have. As for me I use newsletter for web design.. for example:

    www.webdesign.about.com

And it's more effective that SPAM for sure.
