Dont we need Terms of Agreement document

As web directory owners, dont we need to put "Terms of Agreement" document to our directories.

I checked Aviva and Alive and as far as i see, they dont have this. (They only have submission rules in the "Submit Link" page)

So what are our rights and the rights of people who paid for links. Later: Can we move a link from a category to another without telling link owner or telling to the link owner? Can we change description/title of the links? Can we totally remove the link because later we observed that the site does not conform to our quality criterias which are not documented clearly?

I think this is an important topic and would like to hear opinions of experienced directory owners.

    Thanks.

    no problem. :)
I just try to keep it concise and simple.

dude, if i goto a directory, i'm going to submit a website to it, NOT read a damn novel.
If i want a novel or book, i'd goto the library. plus, it's free.

thats legal mumbo-jumbo...works really well when you want to avoid something later and point the customer back to the terms page!

Well, I know which terms of use I would actually bother to read. And I don't like to sign up for anything and part with cash if I don't know the full implications of what I'm getting myself in for. If I can't be bothered to read the legalese, I'm sure I wouldn't bother to submit.

However, what's missing from those Directory Dump terms is a line explaining the policy on refunds and partial refunds on rejection. What happens when you have to boot a site that changes use after 6 months, for instance?

yea, i can add a line letting all know rejections are fully refunded.

As far as existing listings, it's obviously stated, i reserve the right to remove the site.

you get listed, then do bad things, you get removed. don't expect a refund.
it's plain and simple. maintain integrity and there won't be anything to worry about.
