Amazons is really tough. And their one-day cookie isn't much help.

You have to work really hard to make it worthwhile. I use Amazon as filler when I don't have other ads. I'm lucky if I can bring in $7 a month with over 400,000 visitors.

I think the way to go with Amazon now is back to the beginning, i.e when Amazon first introduced the affiliate scheme and what you do is to add in the relevant product to your website, now blogs and the few up and coming social networking sites.

I use to make an OK income with my AWS sites, but all this has dried up since the BigG dup-content penalty. My income now is better through social networking sites (though a 50/50 split) than my own AWS stores. My aStores are not returning either.

when playing with amazon, just concern how to get out from supplemental result.

I have only 50-80 visitors/day in one of my site which is out from SR but it's generate 2-10 sales/day.

But, the other one with a lot of SR in Google only generate 0-1 sale/day with luck ;D

if you can design a great niche site and link the associate-o-matic store with it and generate enough traffic, you can make $$ w/ it. just didn't fit our needs with it. I'd rather promote other offers and such. Didn't fit into our site as well as I thought originally. Lesson learned.

it's hard getting a decent income from amazon compared last 2 years. I think there are too many web sites nowadays using turnkey scripts. The competition is becoming so hard that new associates doesnt earn much or doest earn at all.

I think amazon is not for everyone. some get lucky others dont.

A lot of truth to this .. plus Amazon ..is a bit saturated with associates to go to.
You have to really find a nitch or a golden path to lead them to you.

good luck .. and I now this pain as well ..

many make a nice side income.. but ..you do not see many doing just Amazon.

I really think amazon is not a good choice for most affiliates. You can image that you sell products worth 100s of dollars but you only get a few bucks in return.

And if you sell an ebook in clickbank you always get 50% commissions or more.

Anyone have an alternative for someone looking to build a niche product site? Handbags, electronics, etc... Amazon seemed like a nice way to provide the supply-side of the site, but maybe not so much now.

    Find a dropship vender maybe?

    thx

I think that Amazon works for people who generate traffic with adwords. I think that very few make money just putting amazon links on their site.
