I just bought a 1989 Ford Bronco

Well, today, I decided to go all-out and purchase a 1989 Ford Bronco.

Just a few months ago I purchased my first car, and I felt the need today to buy the Bronco because, well, it's huge and I think it would be a better and safer vehicle to drive in the Winter.

Insurance is really going to be a bitch, though. I'm 16 years old, and already OWN two vehicles. I don't know how I'm going to afford insurance, but it's the price of getting what you want I guess. :)

    Specs..
Well the REASON why I bought such an old vehicle, first off, is because it has a brand new v8 5L engine with under 10,000 miles on it. It looks brand new and is actually clean. The body of the vehicle is in great condition for its age!

I BELIEVE it has about 250 horespower, if not more... *I think*

I bought the vehicle for $750...quite a snag I think!

    Donations welcome.

$750, not too shabby. Gas mileage is going to catch up to you though :D

basically. USA manufacturers like big displacement with low RPMS

japanese manufacturers like small engines with high RPMS..

(there is obviously exceptions to that rule)

so the power balances each other out.

personally id rather have a low reving high displacement engine because they are much better at pulling trailers and such. And they sound so much better.

when it comes down to it the gas milage evens itself out for the most part.

Totally don't agree with this 2 parts.
High rev engines always sound better and the gas mileage is better cause of the low cc.

I'll get some pictures of it soon! :)
It's still not even at my house yet. I put the deposit down because I couldn't get it to my house.

I think it's pretty nice...well very nice for an almost 20 year old vehicle!

You have a monster classic truck. Better hold onto it. I can see its value increasing over time.

i guess if you like the sound of buzzy 4 cyl ricer more than a 454BB Chevy then...

    and as far as milage.

low displacement has to rev higher to give same HP

high displacement revs lower for same HP

    2007 GMC Envoy 8cyl 5.3l 300hp
    16-22mpg

    2007 Acura RDX 4cyl 240hp
    19-23mpg

    -------------

    2000 Honda Accord 4cyl 2.3L 150hp
    23-30mpg

    2000 Chevy Lumina 6cyl 3.1L 175hp
    20-30mpg

so... ill stick with North American cars... you can stick with your rice burners :D

i cant find all the performance stats... but any idiot can tell you a

300hp vehicle will beat an equally weighed 240 hp vehicle

    and a
175 hp vehicle will beat an equally weighed 150hp vehicle.

sooooo... i dunno what your trying to prove

1 thing i did find was the Acura weighs nearly 1000lbs more than the envoy so thats quite the weight difference :) so that would be a close race.. the acura would likely come ahead though due to the masive size difference

Congrats... Yeah, nothing like having a second vehicle, aka beater car! Sounds like you got a good deal. 89', hell, that is the year I graduated high school. Back then I bought an IROC Camaro. Cost me $230/mo. in car payments and $350/mo. for the insurance.

Now I pay $600/yr for two newer vehicles with full coverage and the highest coverages.

The east coast sucks in general for insurance for anyone IMO. Good luck on that...

    No pics?

Congrats, classic SUV! Hope it wasn't the one OJ Simpson owned :D

750 is a steal too! Put some time, effort and some money into it and it will increase in value!
