sorry, I thought that title would get more people looking at my post. anyway, I recently launched my new site "the pale skinny guy's guide to seduction"(skinnypaleguy.com), and I have ads in the content and in the menu. The menu ads are not performing well at all. How can I make them perform better without violating tos?
You said "recently". How much traffic are you getting as of average, and how recent is "recent"? BTW I really don't like the "ads in your face" option, although I know most "gurus" advise this. I would put them at the bottom of your articles, that way when your visitor finishes reading the article, they'll look for the easiest route to go next, and seeing the ads, they'll click on it. Also, this way the ads aren't obnoxious.
Nice looking site in terms of colour and design. I think your image at the top of a scantly dressed woman might be against TOS, however. Before you think about replacing it, I can't ssay for sure that it would be against TOS, though.
Well the menu ads I see are: Skinny Guy Skinny Men Skinny Males Women You should tweak your content to drive the ads that you want. Maybe try using section targeting
heh I see how that could be a problem. does anyone know about the woman image at the top of my site? will she get me banned?
Try moving your block of link units to the empty red column on the left side of your copy. They will be the first thing the eye sees and are kind of hidden right now. Test out removing the big rectangle block of ads in the middle of the copy and place a 468x60 block directly after the headline and before the body of the text. CTR should be higher and you will drop the lower paying ads. Add ads to the biology of attraction page. Rename your pages with two or three keywords in them. For example, skinnyguy.com/find_your_soulmate.html instead of /page_id=4. Most importantly, test and measure lots of things and know that none of it will work without traffic.
Well, I think its one of the cases where its on the borderline. To be on the safe side, I would probably ask Google whetehr its allowed or not. Its better to be safe than regret it if it were ever to get you banned.
I don't think she will get you banned... I always had pictures like that on my sites.... major of my sites are female celebrities.
perhaps the menu ads are not performing as well as the other is because they are link ads and require two clicks instead of one to generate revenue.
So, um, what is your traffic? It doesn't matter if you're getting $100/click ads if only two people visit your site a day. Failure to answer this results in pointless and unusable "suggestions".
I found some advertising that works out to less than a $.01 per click. right now, each visitor is worth about $.01 to me, so I stand to make a little profit. Today I had around 250 uniques. once I get the format maximized, I'll start buying bigger numbers.
adengage. so I got rid of the big blocks and put some tasteful ads under the header. I also applied the blacklisted ads to my block list ( in case that matters for anything). So far today I've already surpassed yesterday in total earnings. I'm still trying to figure out an easy way to get more relevant menu links. maybe I should take them out all together
