I bought this site 1 month ago. I am putting it for sale cuz I am pretty pissed right now. And I need money. I hope I dont have regrets with this.

Site makes around 1k - 1.5k per month if promoted properly. I have bought the site and have done some very good improvements of it. I paid $7500 to previous owners Tony and Paul. The deal was done just about 1 month ago here on dp. If you search for the thread you might find it.

Since the moment I got the site I have done the following changes:

- Paid $200 to a designer to improve the design of the site. It now has a much better and more professional design than before.

- Paid $100 to a coder to fix some security vulnerabilites which the script had.

- Installed phpbb - I installed a forum but decided to switch back to the old one which is situated on mysmartscripts.com . I have done so cuz the one there is fully developed and saves me time in answering more presales questions before sales.

Traffic is constant and around 1000-1500 pageviews per day. There has been a slight drop the last couple of days but this is because there is a sponsored listing in hotscripts which has expired, and I didnt renew, cuz I decided to sell. I will provide the text for the ad and everything.

Why I am selling?

For 3 reasons.

1- I am pretty pissed at the previous owner who did not warn me that I have to be promoting this site. If I knew I would not have bought it because I have no time to do it...since I started a day job. Promoting it means making promo threads here, on namepros and other forums. I have made one promo thread and it went pretty good.

2- I need cash. Badly, I already negotiated the pruchase of a different business.

3- In addition the previous owners did not warn me that I have to be paying them $200 per month to keep the links on their main site mysmartscripts.com. They told me this after they received the money which has decrepified our relationship and made a tension between us.

So basically fixed costs are:

$200 per month for being listed on mysmartscripts - This includes around 500 or more signature links of previous owners, links on their homepage with a banner, and the ability to continue use the old forum.

$39 per month for a sponsored listing on Hotscripts

and around $30-$50 for adwords.

Might I interject here, I am Tony who, along with my partner, sold this site to nokolaalx.
Of course the site needs promoting, we would have thought that the buyer would have realised that. Promotion is essential on the internet, after all, if a site is not promoted how do people find it?

Also, we only charged you $150 for the first month which expires 23rd Feb 2007, not $200 as you said. Please get your facts right sir.

We are hosting the full support/presales forum on our server, we have left banners and links all over the place for this script, this is very good for promotion of the script. It is well worth $200 a month and the new buyer will have the same option too. We are also advertising this site on Google Adwords too every day, all included in the price.

I'm not going to get into a slanging match with nikolaalx in his sales thread, we sold about 185 of these scripts from July 2006 to January 2007 with income between $40 to $125 a sale. This is a great script and a sound investment. Good luck to all bidders!

Where is the domain reg'd at ?

 

Domain is registered with Godaddy.

 

Similar scripts can be bought cheap with resell.
You paid much so good luck and hopefully
you recoup loss. Sounds like you
were burned, so OK to be angry.

omfg.......I have not seen such ignorance. I am not angry because I paid too much. I even think that I got a good deal out of this. I am angry because of the incompatibility of this business model with my life. It is too hard for me to keep running this, because I took a day job.

I am not burned. This is a developed business which earns 1k -1.5k per month. It is PR5 and It has sold more than 190 copies of the script.

Please think before posting bullshit. God damnit...where did all the smart people go...
