Some people here have really ugly avatars and I don't really want to watch them. So if I could "ban" such ugly avatar (or hide it for my self) and instead of it I would see some white avatar with "banned" writing or something like that it would be nice. Let's say one user could ban up to 100 avatars (so not to use to many space for it). Does it sound reasonable? Or is this some idiotic idea? What do you think?
Yes, and your green thing with the big teeth would be up near the top! But seriously, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I don't think Shawn and co would want to hamper anyone's freedom of artistic expression on here.
I just added you to my "ignore list" (it's just a test, I wasn't sure what would be displayed), and I don't see your avatar any longer. The drawback is I don't see your message either Anyway, I don't think this new feature your request is a good idea.
what a mess why this post has been doubled? one version with a poll and one without I think you guys didn't get it - the avatared would be "banned" only for you not for others (each would have it's own individual ban list with banned avatars - ugly ones or ads).
Definitely not a good suggestion..and it's not gonna happen...Shawn will reply like this..No, sorry.. Saad
I guess you sold that avatar of yours and if people disabled it now for themselves your your advertiser wouldn't be happy
Nope, not gonna happen... btw, your avatar is so cute [FYI, you can hide members avatar from your user CP, if I am right]
I like this idea best. No i don't think its a good idea and i dont think shawn will waste his time doing it either. - Prilep
Actually guys, I just realized this what I want can be done entirely client-side. It could be either an FF extension that would allow me right click on avatar image (or any other in fact) and add it's url to "ban list". This image would be replaced by a my own replacement for banned images. Alternatively, to work with all browser it could be sort of "firewall" but then I could only make such image unavailable (unless I would mess with the browser cache).
And you could try to read the thread before replying to it, especially if it's only 1 page long . Anyway, like I've said it's doable entirely client-side and I even managed to find FF extension that allows to do that: before: http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/9414/79521435jp4.png after: http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/7351/14057920eu8.png As for me, thread can be closed.
Just a note - the FireFox extension I installed first (RIP - on that images in my previous post) doesn't work well in DP forum (can't ban image on entire forum due to single quotation mark in vatarts image description). I have replaced it with Adblock Plus extension and it works like a charm. Just right click on the avatar - choose "adblock image" and then remove the timestamp parameter from the url. Press Ok and that's it - avatar will be banned for good.
