Don't know how much interest this will hold for anyone, but here goes: 2 Months ago I hadn't even considered a website, but I stumbled across some info about it on the net and gave it a go. Using SBI (site build it), I went live on January 8th, and began with adsense after 25 pages on content on January 27th. So far, I am averaging about $.35 or so per day. Nothing magical, but I have reason to be optimistic. My traffic is growing everyday and my CTR seems to be steady and at an above average % It may be early, but it seems that with perserverance, anyone can make money doing this. I will probably post another thread upon reaching $5 a day. Just thought I'd share my story.....so far.
If you are earning $.35/day from a 25 page website then I will say you are doing gread job. Some people have 10,000 + page site and cant make $3/day.
I think we're at the same level - I get about 120 visits per day, about 1,100 pageviews a day, CTR is decent (sometimes 4% for certain channels), Adsense income is still pathetic (If I'm really lucky, it hits 70 cents to $1). I'm still waiting to get a DMOZ and Yahoo Directory listing, and my site was heavily geared for SEO. Most of my visits are coming from Adwords right now. While my site's only been up for about 1.5 months - I'm really hoping to make something soon. I'm paying $2400/year for a dedicated server and it really hurts, so I need to break even...
I dunno what type of sites you guys are running, but i've made $6 in the first two days with my 2 proxy sites.
My site has been live since the 3rd of January. In January i made $7, but largely thanks to an excellent back link, one day in February i got the same amount of hits as i got in the whole of January and so far i've made $21. Unfortunately my CTR has dropped by like 90% since i redesigned, but i like my redesign So now i'm trying to diversify and i'm running about 5 sites / channels. My main one gets around 2000 impressions, the other 4 get about 100 impressions each.
With adsense sites you got to be patient. It takes anywhere from 6 months and sometimes to a year before you start making some serious money from the site. Also depends on your niche and the no. of pages site has.
6 months to a year? Glad I stick to MFA sites for adsense. I can make over 100 dollars in the first 12 days of a sites launch.
Well sounds Interesting. Care to divulge how you did that and how did you brought so much traffic to the site in just 12 days of its launch that it made $100 from adsense.
I am actually up to 34 pages now and am in the alternative health niche, although a relatively untouched part of it. Adsense is my thing for now, but I do plan to use affiliates etc.. Certainly, this is no MFA site. I am building content and pln for this to be a money generator for the long haul!
Sometimes redesign can have an adverse affect on CTR even though you do it for the better. However, I think things start to pick up again.
My AdSense blog alived since the middle of January. It's slightly growth day by day. Till now, time consumted about more than one month. I got only 20 $ + : ), but i am ok. Still learn and learn a lot more from this community. I think it's not more than a year I will get first 100 $. This is my positive thinking. Even it's so far or long run, but i enjoy.
why in the universe do you need a dedicated server for your site? is this a joke? you could have your site hosted for 20 bucks a year with that kind of traffic, with the ability to grow should the traffic increase. first thing you should do : drop the dedicated server
I'm considering this - the reason i got it is because it's a video site that adds a good 50-100 videos per week. I don't know if a shared server will cut it in regard to bandwidth and HD space. I do have to admit - I'm killing myself on the cost. The other benefit (beyond unlimited bandwidth and 500 gigs of space) is that I can create as many accounts and subdomains as I want. Any ideas for a better alternative based on this? I'm definitely willing to consider it!
Even still, with 10,000 pages you better be able to make some money. Geez, what kind of break-even do those people have!!
