Stop Worrying About Directories PR

I keep seing people only want to submit to free directories with decent PR... the reality is that while many free directories have decent homepage PR, their internal pages, the place where your link will appear, usualy don't have much or any PR at all!

Also many of the sites with higher PR homepages are usualy older and many of them are much more selective in their inclusion process or are not actively being maintained so your site probably has less of a chance of being listed!

The reality is that you will probably have better luck submitting to free directories with little to no PR and that are new since they are usualy hungrier then than they will be later.

    Just my 2 cents!

I think some of your comments are maybe slightly inaccurate the leading Directories are in the majority PAID ONLY and are well edited and detailed and in time a site that is submitted to these sites will see a strong back link, remember that PR does take time as G only updates approx 4 times per year but these directories in the main fall into the category of all paid directories regardless of whether you list with a regular, featured or deep links

A Directory whether it be free or paid requires maintenence, and moreover directories with owners who have sustainable marketing and support programs are certainly the type of directories that we submit to.

That is only our 2 cents worth but as we have a continous inhouse submittal program where by we select directories that we submit to we consider that it is more beneficial and viable to submit to selective paid quality directories as in our evaluation they represent ROI

Of course some free directories that are maintained will be considered too but we are looking for long term and that is a criteria that needs to be considered, because how long can a free directory stay on line without revenue

Some directories have inner page PR. But not many free directories (for being new) got PR.

Not all paid directories are good and same applies to free directories, and since when a pr 0 backlink didnt matter ? Every link counts as long its not a nofollow link :) just like 100 bucks is made up of 10000 small pennies.

Most directories seem to start out free and become paid later on when they start to develop decent content and PR.

I think it is a mistake to ignore directories that are still free if they are being supported, developed and promoted... because submitting to them early means you get the benefit of a good link without later having to pay for that link.

Of course, it can be hard to tell which ones are going to stick around!

I am all for paid directories and do submit to many but what I am referring to is the heavy focus people put on the PageRank of the free directories as a criteria by which they choose to submit or not.

A PR0 directory today many a times turns out to be a PR4, 5, or 6 directory later so don't ignore those.

This is a great point, anyone can start a directory now a days because it is so easy to do, The best way I have found if a directory is for real or not is by watching that directory for a little awhile, in other words I go and check from time to time to see if that directory is gaining more backlinks, if I come back after a say 2 or 3 weeks and notice that the directory has not done anything it is unlikely that I will submit to it, after all , if the owners who start these directories do not even want to take the time to build up the directory why should I pay a for listing there.

very true... a free directory with a high PR ... gets tons of submissions every day... i m talking for experience... when i used to own www.domaining.in - PR 4 .... not as high as other sites, but its submission rates increase and i was recieving bunch of spam submissions as well which slows down the process so you might have a good luck submitting to PR 0 sites because they'll accept fast.... and believe me or not PR 0 links does count as a backlink maybe not worth as much, but if you get 10 of PR 0 it would be better than one PR 4 ... atleast thats what i think ...

just thought i should add my 2 cents
