Marketing on DP!

So, as we all know some of our accounts here at DP are walking advertisement boards:D

How exactly can we market efficiently at DP?

    - Location: place site url here
    - Avatar: for branding/identity?
    - Signature links: ..PR? Traffic?

    Anything else?

What about for signatures: how do you market your business through signatures? Does making your link color stand out (ex: using bold red) attract users? I personally don't read signatures intentionally hah:)

agreed with game_producer. WHen you write someting useful, visitors tend to click on your signature as they think you have the knowledge in that field.

I've done a little testing (on another forum) less links (below 3) in your
signature lines actually gets clicked on more then a myriad of links.

I'd love to hear what others have to say on having the number of links in
    your sig.

Interesting! Maybe it's a quality over quantity thing?

What about descriptions that lure people into clicking your sigs, does that ever work?;)

I could easily see that. When you don't come off as someone that obvisouly selling their sig/avatar, then I think you are percieved more credible. Lesss links would help in doing that.

Somehow I dont like idea selling avatars or changing them in something associated with your website, its just makes your profile look worst, because it feels like you would be talking with some kind of software, not person..

I'm not keen on selling avatars and such either. I only promote my own sites in my sig and such as well. I don't like to appear "for sale." It's a reputation thing as far as business goes. I guess if you need the money and it's easy, you don't worry about that though.

I agree with what someone said regarding quality posts. That's the best forum marketing strategy I've come across. Whenever I start posting on press releases, I get a sudden flow of orders. If I'm posting about copywriting, I get a flow of orders for that. It's nice in that I don't have to directly advertise anymore to have people find me on their own enough to fill my schedule, but it's very directly tied to what I'm posting about. So if I'm not in the mood to write in one format, I have to watch what I post. lol It's a great marketing strategy though.

I would take quality over quantity. It also depends on the type of business you have and the type of forum your sig is on.

DP members click my sig now and then and only 2 have bought something. Maybe DPers dont want my stuff for their online business or adsense sites, but on other forums I can get alot of good leads and sales.

True. The great thing about DP is that there are so many lurkers (geusts) online as well as members. That's double exposure for your business.

I've been approached by a some non DPer members (via e-mail) and I'm sure a couple of you have to;)
