I'm using local webhosting provider known as sempoihosting.com Domain name they register for us at namecheap.com. As i use it, overally ok and no downtime yet.
I am using GoDaddy for domains and hosting. It completely depends on your requirements. If you require VPS, then there are better providers than Godaddy.
Hostgator do upgraded shared packages recently,you can find some coupons here if you want to get a package there.
Dreamhost and hostgator both have a lot of bad reviews, i'd recommend reading up on them before making your choice remember.. you get what you pay for...
