Use lots of tags when building your lenses!

Do you mean keywords when you refer to tags, or alt. tags when you post images?

Yes, the keywords not alt tags. :)

Just a few updates. First, I created two new lenses if anyone feels like checking them out:

PR Blogs - This is just a collection of feeds from some of the more educational and entertaining PR industry blogs out there - not really "best" list, but rather an easy way to get a broad feel for what's going on in one place.

Writing a Marketing Plan - Well, it is what it says it is... a collection of resources to help you write a marketing plan (from my own one page marketing plan template for those looking for an abbreviated option to sample marketing plans and free marketing plan templates).

Also, just thought I'd update on the earning. The numbers for December show I earned $6.99 then, which sounds low, but is pretty darn good imo since I only started setting up lenses a few days before Christmas. I've set up more in January, and a few this month, so I guess we'll see how that goes. Anyone else having luck on that front?

I've been neglecting my lenses. I used to have 4 in the top 100 and others pretty close, and now they're all like 4000 or higher. Not good. I'll need to make more time for it I suppose.

When you earned the $6.99, were a lot of your lenses in the top 100?

I'd gotten 4 in the top 100, but I don't think any were in there during those last two weeks in December though (which is the only time they were livethat month - the month the pay stats are for). At most one or two might have been at the very bottom. Traffic was always very low though (no more than 30 views a week - I think it posts stats by week - that early, and still no impressive stats to speak of).

One thing I did notice though was that the lenses got PR pretty quickly. Since I post feeds and links to my sites on them when possible, it's great for link-building on highly relevant pages if you set them up well.

Is any one here actually achieving any sort of good page rank, according to google! Most of the lenses I have clicked on here have none.

    Or am I missing something.

I know that a lens can bring in traffic, but my question is, do they really get picked up by search for relevent keyword terms, and maybe should you link your lenses together to create a "mini web" so to speak? As long as they are of the same niche or topic.

I am still new to squid and this Forum so please bear with me...

Are we talking squidoo rank here or Google's page rank?

    Mine are slipping in squidoo

Google updates so infrequently that only a few of us can comment. However of my older lens - most are pr5, a few are pr4, and this baby is pr6!

I have just recently tried Squidoo. I think it looks interesting and I have seen a few sites related to my industry rank in some very competitive markets and key phrases. Google the other day was showing a squidoo lens on page 3 for a super competitive search phrase.

Anything I launched at the end of December (when I started on the site) picked up PR 2-3 with the latest update. Not a lot, but not bad for being live probably less than a month before the PR update). Get started on them now and build some links to them, and you'll probably get decent PR in the next update.

    Thanks for your post sarahk,

I was actually more interested about googles page rank for lenses.

You just proved it can be accomplished... Nice Rank!

Yeah it's weird how the links just materialize the way they do. Ive been leaving my lenses alone to track how far down they go. Eventually I will be paying more attention to them in a while.
