I clicked my own ads when I first started.

When I first started Google AdSense I clicked my own ad to see if it was working properly on my site. Right now I have about 15$ on the account but I was thinking about just abandoning Google AdSense and moving on to another PPC advertiser, like yahoo or something. Do you think this is a smart move? I haven't been banned by google yet and it would suck to reach 100$ and get banned.

Stick with Google. A lot of people on this forum have been banned by Google over their petty restrictions - they would give their left leg to have your AdSense account so don't waste it. Even if you choose to use a different contextual advertising service keep your AdSense in good standing because you may need it again sometime. It is (arguably) the highest payer per click. As for clicking on your own ads I would report that to AdSense Support - difficult to explain the delay if you did it a month ago, but nevertheless preferable to being banned. You can't fool AdSense - they know all the tricks.

Well, don't quit adsense. But as they say, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Do YPN and MSN ad center. In case you get banned from google, you won't end up with nothing.

I just accidentally clicked on an ad, I don't know how. A muscle spasm or something. I sent them an e-mail, and got one back saying they appreciated my reporting it. It might be a good idea to e-mail them and say, hey, I just realized I made a mistake. I don't think one click is going to get you banned, anyway, especially if it was in the early days of the site.

    Guess what?

You do not need to email Google that you accidently clicked an ad once or twice.

They know you clicked your ad and

    they know pencils have erasers

We all make mistakes...Google does it daily....

    Do not become paranoid :)

I thought YPN had a higher pay per click? AdSense hasn't been paying high for me lately :(

problem with YPN - i have it running on a couple of sites - is that the ads are not targeted very well. Even when you go through the process of targeting domains you still might get non-relevant ads. You might make more per click but the clicks are hard to come by

Because they are evil, they want to tease you, they want you to feel happy upon your earning then BAM!!! crush your dreams....

On serious note: they do the account review when you reach $100 mark and if they find something wrong at that time, they ban you.

But it doesnt mean that they wont ban anyone before reaching $100 mark, as I have seen many publishers getting banned way before they reach to review mark. That happens in case you are in some serious violation and someone reports your site.

I don't think you will get banned for just one click.
There is no reason why you should abandon Google AdSense.

If you want to see how other ads are performing for your website, just temporary remove the AdSense code and test for a few days/weeks.

the guy that claimed adsense is just jealous because he doesnt have ypn :D

Adsense does have more advertisers/more niches but ypn does have significantly higher payouts regardless of the number of advertisers. Ypn will give you less relevant ads, less clicks, and a lower ctr but regardless you will make more.
