Aged (1998) Home Theater Site for Sale - PR5

I have finally decided to sell one of my best producing sites - stereo411.com. Why? I am moving on to some new exciting local web projects and I just don't have time to devote to this site and it does need some attention. However, if I don't get the price that I think it deserves I will keep it and develop it. But I thought I would give the DP community a shot at it since I would rather have the site with someone who can give some real attention.

The site provides locations of high-end home theater dealerships cross referenced with high-end home theater product manufacturers. It also has a phpbb forum but there has been very little activity on it.

Main revenue is adsense. I have not charged one dime for listings and could / should be a great revenue source.

Based on the age and potential of the site, I am setting the BIN at less than 24x the average monthly revenue for 2006.

Hosted at www.phpwebhosting.com. You can just take over my account. At $9.95 per month it is worth it and in terms of site maintenance I suggest it. It is coded in PHP/MySql/XSLT. If you want to make modifications, you will have to understand this or be ready to hire someone. I have not really changed the site much since I bought it. I will not be able to provide support after the site sale other than the occasional email. Having a FT job + a FT web business does not leave me much time. I want to help but the reality is that I dont' have much time.

Last 6 months it's only been earning ~$200 a month. What kind of work were you doing on it to generate $1k? How long per day/week, and what kind of thing? Advertising, or just content updates?

 

Just a few hours of week - largely on link promotion and content updates. I have really done zero with it since June. I always thought I would get back to the site but I never did.

 

your site is dying..what happen to the rev? $1000 to $200 per month all of the sudden?

 

Dying is a strong word. It is making the same amount of revenue when I bought it. As I mentioned, I neglected the site and that is why revenue and traffic died down. It is usually a simple correlation. This is not a site that will just grow in revenue and uniques by magic - it takes work. Having said that, traffic picked up last month without me lifting a finger.

It easily has the potential to make what it made at its peak last year or more with a bit more work put into the site. I have not done it so I think it is time for a new owner.

I want to make it clear that I would like to see the site fall into the right hands not just someone looking to make a quick buck or just sell text links on it.

Yeah this site has that kind of potential in the right hands who works hard to get traffic to it. Home theater is hot - isn't everyone interested in a HD TV and an awesome surround system ?
