Ok, the title was a bit provocative, let's see if that works :)

I see a lot of SEO companies that guarantee super results and rankings in the first page on Google, etc...
    So I'm just wondering...

Do you think you could rank my site on the first page on Google.com for the search term "pay per click"?
And if yes, how much would it cost me and how long do you estimate this would take.

Obviously, I'd also be very curious to know how you would do it, would you explain that or keep it "secret"?

We are talking clean SEO here, no black hat techniques.

Personally, I see it pretty difficult, but well, there are better SEO than me in here so, what do you say?

Sure, it's possible. I'd say you'd need a good $500 per month budget. I'd guess it might take up to a year.

I'd optimize for a bunch of small keywords first, though.

It's possible, see image for keyword difficulty ... a good SEO company will be able to get your site ranked, it will take time and money $500 per month may be a little higher.

I have a site with roughly the same keyword percentage difficulty, it now ranks 11, and has pr of 6.

$500 a month? Heh, sign me.
No really, I think it would cost a bit more than $500 a month, no?

Well, I don't think its a competitive as it might seem at first. www.payperclicksearchengines.com which is #3, is only PR6 with 4,000+ backlinks....

I would say you are looking at about a year or two in time starting from scratch. Also I agree that you will need to target more than 1 word. Say around 10 - 15 total terms surrounding your big one.

As for $500 a month.... Not gonna happen.

You are looking at 152,000 allinanchor level which is going to require articles, links, and press releases. I wouldn't even bother with buying one way links.

It can easily be done but you are going to have to live with the time constraints.

So far I have been working on this client for 3 months for the term Acrylic Aquariums and I moved him from infinity to position 10-12 using article syndication only.

    Nice feedback. Keep it coming!

SmokeDog, by articles syndication, you mean you've created articles for your client, with links to his site, and posted those articles to articles directories and so?

The price could vary quite a bit depending on the person and how they do it.

For example, if you're gonna rent links, $500 won't even get close. $500 will do alot of article syndication, though. :)

$500 per month budget for Adwords is better IMO. That would be the quickest and easiest SEO to me.

Expensive SEO experts charge that. There are plenty of good SEO experts that don't charge that. :)

Its logic you pay $500 /month even on seomoz.org you have to pay $2000 only for creating linkbait. For better pricing is with contract for current time such as 3 months got target top 20 in SE, or 6 months on top 10 in SE.
For 3 month contract $2000 or 6 months contract $4000.

Time frame to rank for that keyphrase will depend on (Age/Nature) and PR of your website.

Besides a good one year will be required in any case and may be more. $500 per month is not a bad deal although it will go on the higher side in most of the proposals.

How is PPC seo? Doing ppc doesn't improve your rankings and when you stop paying for your keywords you lose visitors so I don't see in what it is better than getting organic visits?

I think that 500$ per is a good price for a seo service but i could (should?) be higher :)

PPC is not SEO. SEO is purely for organic rankings, PPC is really SEM - Search Engine Marketing, basically using the search engine to market your product.

PPC is Paid placement where as SEO is Natural/Organic placement.

PPC is for Paid Rankings where as SEO is for Natural/Organic Rankings. :)
