Is there a way to import csv file into adwords?

I thought google had a way that I could make a list of keywords, ads, bids, into an csv file, then import it into adwords... but I can't find it. Anyone have info on this?

Otherwise, is entering ads one at a time the only way to do it?

    Thanks.

    christopher,

if you hear of anything that can do
this, please let me know asap, because
a feature like this would help me out
    immensely.

i'm also doing research on the net to
try and find something like this, but
the closes thing i can find is having
a programmer work with the Adwords
api, which has a whole set of hoops
you have to go through to even get
    going...

i'll let you know, PM me if you hear
    anything.

    dude chris,

i think i found what we're looking for...

i did a search in google for csv, import,
adwords and stumbled on this thing
    called "Adwords Editor" where apparently
    you can download everything about
your campaign, edit it, and then re-
upload it back to your adwords account
    online.

too bad we have to go through this program,
but i'm downloading it and installing it
right now to see if it's as powerful
of an import feature as i think it is.

You can export stats in a csv via the web interface in the reports section.

Awesome, thank you so much, that is the missing piece to a project I'm working on involving Adwords.

Thanks again. Also, is there some sort of rating system here, if I can give you points for helpfulness I'd like to do that as well.

    I'll research the FAQ.

I thought you could import csv's into adwords editor but I have just been looking at it now and I can only see a snapshot import which only imports adword editor files, are there any other ideas for importing csv's etc

You can copy and paste data via the editor.

Why would you need to import a .csv or other file?

because if you have a 40k campaign i think it would be a lot easier if you could just import a csv file! It would save you a lot of time instead of pasting. Also sometimes with pasting you can mess up the whole thing if you dont have a correct space!!

How do you paste it? I mean what step by step or Add Multiple text ads and then keywords?

    cheers

And if your file is formatted incorrectly the theoretical import could get messed up too:)

Just go to the appropriate tab (ad groups for example) and click the "add/update multiple ad groups" button and follow the prompts. After you add your ad groups then ad the keywords, text ads, etc following the same steps.

Test it out with small data set for starters. After you're comfortable with the process you can add stuff faster than you ever thought possible.

Wait a minute. Faster than I can manipulate an excel sheet? I have to work with 4000 keywords. I run macros to make specific adjustments to my PPC campaigns. There must be a way to download a campaign into excel -> manipulate the excel file -> and then upload it again. Yahoo lets you do this with ease....Maybe I read through this topic too fast? Am I missing something?

To do this you need to use the Adwords editor. You can get this editor at this URL:

    http://www.google.com/intl/en/adwordseditor/index.html

    • Load up the editor.

    • Get recent changes (you will need user name and password)

    • Click File - Export to CSV - (relevant option - e.g. current campaign or whole account)

    • Edit in Excel to do what ever you wish

    • Then import back into Adwords:

    - You click on the Add/update multiple ad groups
    - Click the “My ad group information below includes a column for campaign names.” Radio button
    - Select keyword or placement
    - And then past in the info from your csv file into the space
    • Job done!

Once done click Post changes and your campaigns will go live
