I think they are manually hiding their info. Anyway, why would you think Alexa has a ton of traffic? ONly a small percentage of internet users use it. And that's the small percentage of webmasters.

The reason they do not show their own statistics is because it is flawed. Alexa ranking is detirmined by the Alexa toolbar, which is downloaded from alexa.com.

They would obviously have rank #1 because everyone with an alexa toolbar goes to alexa.com. The data is skewed so they took their own statistics out.

Thats not crazy. If they ranked themselves they would be ranked # 1 considering that only "Alexa Aware" visitors are counted when they rank websites.

Alexa ranking is flawed for sure.

Traffic to my website doubled and pageviews increased fourfold for the past 12 months. However, my alexa rank went from 1.2 Million to 3.5 million during the same period.

I really don't see how these toolbars survive and what purpose they serve.

This is best served by browsers themselves.
    thanks

Website traffic is compared all the time on tv, in national newspapers etc and alexa is always mentioned, as well as having over 11 million people surfing with the toolbar which links to alexa im sure they do get a ton of traffic.

Anyone thought that if they showed their own traffic they might get accusations of partiality towards themselves? But it could be some error in their data or site.

actually, alexa was having a rank before. sometime before, atleast a year back, i used to see a rank of alexa on the alexa toolbar. but unfortunately, it shows no data on it now.
amazon has a rank of 20.

anyways, the reason i guess is, every alexa user uses alexa toolbar, so perhaps alexa would have a better rank than yahoo etc, so, i guess they have removed the alexa.com from the ranks.:D

its flawed cos it only counts hits from people using alexa toolbar..now you think the world uses alexa toolbar---openly knows as malware by some programs such as adware etc.

Only Operating systems, Browsers can tell which site is more popular. This is because, they have enough non-intrussive tools/utilities to capture that info. Any other software like toolbar downloads are mere non-sense.
