i just found this blog about dmoz corruption
i had in the past many problems to get in ...
and yet i haven't succeeded to list any of my professional sites
    after hundreds of submissions.

but then today i found this blog that chocked me ...
even if somebody is listed ... he'll be still vulnerable ...

should dmoz and AOL start hiring paid editors and get rid of all the so called
    non paid editors ???

    what do you think ???

This sounds a little dubious, but I can't help to think about it too.

Is this listed on an official DMOZ blog somewhere? I find this very hard to believe that it is open like this. Sure some bad apples are doing this, we would be kidding ourselves to think otherwise.

Can this be verified or is this just another example of free speech on the internet?

I think DMOZ is totally corrupt, I gave up on them months ago.
They would be better making it a paid directory and paying people to editor the directory properly.

Sorry but explain why so many sites in long queues ? I thought there were thousands of editors, there should be simple rule, you do not clear over 10 sites in a month ur fired plain simple, so if editors instead of adding new sites themselves put more efforts in getting other sites that are on hold reviewed would help a lot.

Plus a script that actually checks when a site is submission if its oh hold or approved already so it does not add to the list, just checking for its domain.com and stripping other text from it would help a lot, but why does dmoz not adopt such policy ? than lets see wat happens, disable editing of sites and their urls if a site when submitted does not look good or follow rules just trash it, this will prevent corrupt editors from shuffling their competitors sites around.

This whole dmoz thing and bitching and crying makes me sick just ignore dmoz , stop visiting dmoz, stop submissions globally to dmoz and watch as eventually dmoz rankings drop , submissions drop editors loose jobs, maybe than aol will realize that they need to do something about how things are going. If you cannot maintain or remain upto date no need to have any site around just go home and sleep on ur couch.

So only global efforts will help aol realize its mistake, and unless we all come together we do not need to start posts about ooh dmoz is shit and sucks ass.

Just stop doing that, commit urself from not using dmoz or ever visiting it. The less visitors dmoz gets the more quickly they will realize their acts.

Have fun posting crap bout dmoz.

    but how could this be?

I was told from an dmoz editor that most dmoz editors do it as a hobby and they actually enjoy volunteering to edit? also, most dmoz editors say they could careless about SEO and most of them don't have their own websites?

hahah....i dont think its fair to state this since theres really no proof. vice versa, yes they'll always be corrupt editors, but how can one state that the majority of dmoz editors are corrupt? things are just not fair...this is life...with any power comes corruption and good.

About 90% of editing is done by 200-300 editors, Why? Because as a beginner you are stuck in a small category with no possibility to do anything. How do you advance? By being obedient and ass kisser, so they can be sure you are not going to cause any problem. Of those 200-300 active "senior" editors, how many do it as a hobby? Probably less than 10%. ;)

Admins were chosen because of their lack of connection to commercial web sites? True or false?
Is it true that they don't have connection to commercial web sites? Yes or no? ;)

True to the first question, and it's my understanding that they don't have connections to commercial websites. But there are other reasons they were chosen. They are very good people, good editors and trustworthy. I'm happy to follow each admin individually and as a group. I only wish they had more power to act when necessary.

So, now the question is, what are you setting me up for gworld? ;)

At least some of them have commercial web sites and if they are such a "good and trustworthy" editors then why did they lie about it? ;)

I've never heard that they lied or that they have commercial websites. Do you have information that the rest of us don't?

I make you a deal, how about I PM you the information and after looking at it and if you think it is correct then you just post here that I was right without even mentioning Admin name? ;)

Looks like something someone wrote to hurt DMOZ's market share.

My stuff gets approved very quickly...

i tried multiple times to get in DMOZ....but never ever made it. However my site is listed on all SE..i dont care much about DMOZ now.

But yeah they should go paid..or do something about those lazy editors..

if google feels your site isnt updated its of no value...then why not dmoz..its not updated get it out of index. lol

I'm always puzzled by comments like that because I don't understand how firing editors gets more work done.
