Digital point rocks. Because of DP, I am not visiting other forums... Post a question here and after 5 minutes, you'll have the answer.

You got almost all the answer to your question here.

Try to advertise on various forums, Contact other owners in your niche.

It's become so big because the respected owner, the earning opportunities, the press, the low amount of spam, the sites design, the friendlyness of the community her, the niche, and even more things have helped to make it what it is today.

In the real estate business they say that there are three keys to successful property investment: location, location, and location.

In any website business, there likewise are three keys to success: promotion, promotion, promotion.

Unless you work hard every day to get the word out and drive new members to your forum, you are focusing on the wrong things.

I'm interested in knowing what break they got at the start tho to just get the ball rolling. So often in many of my business website ventures I keep to a stage in growth where it is very difficult to break through.

I agree, i have spent the last 3/4 weeks solidly promiting my site, adding it to directories etc, and already im noticing an increase in activity. The site is the largest christian site hosted by proboards, and i have just paid a small fee to get my url changed so its no longer the free proboards.com url but now my offical url - http://worldwidechristiansonline.co.uk

Does anyone know any good sites to submite my forum to, both free and paid?

Thanks for everyones comments so far

I agree with others. Its really a great technic which has been implemented by the dp owner, moreover, the demand of dp discussions make others to join here and keep their business opportunities on. And definitely Business opportunities are the basic demand here which made this DP forum great with the usage of adsense revenue sharing too.

Shawn had wonderful viewership on this site because of his popular tools then he added forums to provide support to tool users .. and also relaxed environment of the forums not strict like others.
This created space for digitalpoint in webmaster forums niche and many users of other forums started to come here ... ;)

patience, destination and determination three things in business.

yea your site is hosted in proboard this is the reason.
as a visitor i would think "oh this site is hosted in other board so may be down anytime i don't trust it"
don't get sad but its better to host on your own domain to be like DP.

Digital Point sounds like a mountain peak where you would go to get help with techy issues from gurus. Only I vote for a skylift, my old legs can only make so many trips per day:D
