What Everybody Ought to Know About Directories

There has been some really good coverage of directories in the blogosphere lately. In case you didn't catch it:

Well worth the read / watch. Even if you've been around directories for a while, you'll learn a lot.

I'm particularly happy to see these posts, as there seems to be a "directories don't work any more" mentality that's spreading. The fact that these intelligent and knowledgeable leaders in the SEO field use and recommend directory submissions is encouraging.

Been there done that! Did you change a credit card or bank account tied to your account.

Pain in the ass, that Paypal is, the do some haywired things with the way things are set up, and silly rules.

Now you've got to send emails to all your previous subscriptions to set up a new one. Sucks Ass. Paypal will not do anything to help you set them all back up automatically.

But it can be a good time to review all your subscriptions and maybe weed a few out.

Ok, now to go read and watch the links in Original Post.

Interesting articles and video.

A few months ago I had to justify budget dollars to add a few of my eCommerce sites to paid directories and these resources would have helped me in crafting my budget request.

But, good information none-the-less.

doesnt he mean 350?

 

I believe he's talking about submitting to the high quality paid directories. Of witch you would be hard pressed to find 350/month, let alone have the scratch to pay to be in them all in one month.

350/month is fine for the free, lesser quality dirs. Many of which take weeks or months before inclusion, then weeks to months again before Google crawls and finds your links, if it even bothers to crawl deep into that particular dir.

The high quality paid ones get crawled often. And your link gets added within a few days. When your forking out $10, $20, or $30 for 1 link in a dir. You get what you pay for. Call it instant gratification.
