PR5 ecommerce store. Established + Revenue

I purchased a site and its stock from an auction on sitepoint.com forums. I did a lot of research - due dilligence and all that and it was and is an excellent find.

However, I now need to be saved. There was one thing I didn't check into - it never crossed my mind. Shipping. I'm in Canada and this site has been operated out of the US. I checked into shipping/customs in terms of importing the stock - but not in terms of shipping to customers. It seems that the US shipping options - Global Priority and Global Express - are reasonable in pricing while at the same time providing tracking options. I have no such option here. If I want tracking I have to do UPS or Expresspost which sends shipping costs per item through the roof. And a lot of customers don't want to pay that kind of shipping cost. I don't want to sell the site. I think it was an excellent purchase on my part. But not having the tracking option available - and slow post - makes for cranky customers occasionally. Which is easily resolved if I was living in the US.

If someone can give me an idea into how to resolve this situation without selling then great! Some kind of US + Canada partnership - or shipping resolution etc., woohoo!

Otherwise, I think to be fair to the site - and not damage it - I should let it go to someone based in the US.

Why does the seller in the SP auction state that buyer could live in the UK? I realize some sales are made there too, but that doesn't resolve the US shipping problem.

The previous seller didnt realize the shipping restrictions in Canada...neither did I..

As for UK - Perhaps they have US equivalent shipping options. I dont know.

At this point I'm looking to sell asap - at a loss if necessary. The shipping issues are just too much for the site.

I bought it at 10k on sitepoint yes. But now its available again. For less then that.

 

why are you selling it again for less when you bought it at 10k

 

If you read the first post it indicates the trouble I had with shipping being in Canada. Thats the only reason. I'm willing to take a loss since it was my own oversight that caused the trouble. IF I dont have to take a loss and someone is willing to pay the full price then great! But if someone wants to short me a few k and in return a US based buyer gets to take it over then thats cool too. It deserves that.

How much work would it be to integrate a real payment gateway for credit card sales into the shopping cart? There are a fair number of folks out there who simply don't like Paypal...
