I have a question. I want to know whether Yahoo have its equivalent of Google PR or not? Somebody told me that Yahoo proposed web rank one time, but didn't it just disappear? and I want to know if Yahoo is planning to introduce something similar or not.?

    thanks

Personally, I think too many people give too much weight to PR.

Well mia they do that because its a rank that in some way tells the end user or the owner that big sites link to their site with the correct keywords.

And in some cases good rankings at google.

I dont see why it shouldnt be overrated?

I agree with Mia about the importance of PR. I think it is a measure of your site sort of like the Alexa Ranking is. It is just something that gives measure and can help elevate levels of trust in the online world. Some people, however, live and die by focusing on PR when the SERPS don't necessarily seem to indicate that PR means that much to them the SEs. If the SEs placed massive amounts of importance on PR the the sites with the highest PR would always come up first and this just isn't the case. I have a site with a PR of2 that continually tromps sites of PR3,4 and 5.

PR is just another factor that the SEs (Google) can rely on for placement of a site in the SERPs if multiple sites and very close in all other factors that determine ranking, PR can be the tie breaker.

PR is also used to sell or rent the real estate on your site and sell others link space and encourage others to link to you either for free or for a fee.

A year and a half ago, Yahoo used a PR equivalent but closed it to the public quite after that.

    Cheers :)

What are the values of the different Page Rank, since it is virtual real estate. I am sure someone have some type of chart on this somewhere!

^^^^ yeah pretty sure it was webrank or was webrank, MSN?

    damn i confuse myself.

If someone knows all the factors .....they will never tell. Highly unlikely anyway.
