It may be pushing the TOS on that. I also agree that the layout is horrible. To much on the page. Even though the ads are blended, there is so much data on the page it has gotten to the point that they are hidden...

I would think Google would say no to this. It sure seems deceptive to me.

Definately a great technique! Yet a little deceptive. :)

I wouldn't say a good technique - they are blended way too well. Only time the ad stands out if the 250x250 box throws just one big ad. But if it is bringing in good revenue - no complaints then :)

Too many links = low CTR

isn't this kind of blending against tos. eg in forums we are disallowed putting the ads which would elicit false clicks from user thinking its content when its actually an ad.

yeah...excellent blending and yes this is more likely possible in an html based rather than image based design

That is definitely not compliant with Google's TOS. I blogged about this exact issue and where in Google's TOS it mentions this sort of blending problem: http://adclustr.com/tips-tricks/9

Interesting. Still, I bet it has a great CTR and if the advertisers are happy with the traffic, why wouldn't Google allow it? It is a well established site.

I think there's two issues here. Yes, it is nicely blended. But no, it doesn't look good. IMO, the latter is where you should start...

that looks deceptive -- to me that is worse than putting pictures next to ads
