About 40 days back I had seen an adsense ad Of "The Great Indian Blogger Hunt".
I was impressed that at least some one has came up with an idea of making blogging popular in India.
The price money was Big. The Advertisement said its 10 Million Rupees.
    Site is : www.ibibo.com
When checking details it was found to be 160,000 Rupees for top blogger of the month and 80000 for position 2-10 , 40000 for position 10 - 49 and 20000 for position 50-100.
That is a Big price as it would be equal to salary of a quallified professional.
All One has to do is to blog.
Later down the lane when again you see the top contestants a serious blogger is ashamed to call it a Blogger hunt contest.
People are just posting anything rubbish on their post to increase their post count.
The top bloggers here are interestingly posting one word post or hundreds of duplicate posts!!!
I doubt what the site will gain from all this.
There is nothing to read from in most of the blogs here.
The site admin or any of the site support team never care to answer any of the queries or questions .

This can definitely be called as the best example of "How Big Marketing Ideas go Wrong"
I can term this as a sheer waste of Space and Bandwith and above all money as there is no quality content in these blogs and people are just blogging for the sake of winning the amount.

Maybe all they want is page views, if this is the case, it's working pretty well. I have no idea what the rupee worth though.

The thing is as of now they dont have any rev share from advertising.
Yes maybe they are get lot of page views but this is not converted into money minting..
Also all the page views will end up as soon as the contest is ended .

CPM based advertising would work great with this, no need any other conversion over that. I can't see them doing that though. Maybe it's just a test run.

Such marketing ideas are mostly intended to attract attention by lending credibility from others, it can work once but not successful in long run. :)
