North Korea has tentatively agreed to close down its nuclear weapons program in exchange for energy aid, U.S. and Chinese officials said Tuesday.

But the proposed deal was being reviewed by officials in the negotiators' capitals before becoming final.

Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill, the lead American official at the talks, said the United States will give an unspecified amount of energy assistance to North Korea in exchange for North Korea freezing its production of plutonium

This is looking like a solid negotiation is on the table

"We feel it's an excellent, excellent draft," Hill said. "I don't think we are the problem."

At last talks are bringing preliminary results

Good news. Seems just like a few weeks ago the "blame America first" crowd of self-loathers and low self-esteems were saying nothing was being done.

Yes, this is good news. Seeing I live on the west coast, and I'm not eager to have a nuke fly over my head.

We should. Atleast we can say we did. But it should be among other UN partners. So it's not just hearsay at the end of the day.

A debate is retarded. They're two countries trying to work things out in the world of diplomacy...if they're not that, then they're two stubborn children.

Your little island has an odd mixture of politicians. I remember watching your 'congress', and I felt like kicking everyone in the face. It's like seeing a school yard of children yell back and forth.

Not to say I'm proud of my congress, but I semi-like the way the arguements are done.

    More breaking news
    http://edition.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/02/13/nkorea.talks.ap/index.html
North Korea agrees to take steps towards nuclear disarmament under a groundbreaking deal that will bring the impoverished and reclusive communist state more than $300 million of aid. Under the agreement, reached by six countries in Beijing after nearly a week of talks, Pyongyang will freeze the reactor at the heart of its nuclear program and allow international inspections of the site.

This is more good news on this story

Yes, everyone knows you can sell one nuke for a $100,000,000 US. The second and third nukes are much cheaper. Its that first one that hits the pocket book.

U.S. officials have defended the Bush administration's policy shift on North Korea, which coincided with an agreement by Pyongyang to begin to close down its nuclear program in exchange for aid.
The White House called the deal "a very important first step" toward the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

NK ruined itself, chief. The only thing it's done is the last 10 years is demand oil and help from other nations....or they'd pursue nukes! I feel sorry for all the people within, but Kim's a fucktard.
