How important is the age of the domain?

    The age of domain is a VERY important factor. However you could renew the domain for the maximum period allowed. This method would help to minimize the effect of domain age factor.

    One of my website which is new has a better ranking in Alexa, has PR 0, and one of my old website that has poor ranking at Alexa has PR 4. Thats weired :D

    Alexa doesn't get you traffic.
    How do they each rank in Google?
    Do you update the older site with fresh content & does it have quality backlinks from relevant site?

    Does this argument about domain age (older = better) also apply to blogspot blogs? They get indexed really fast and I've had some which shot from PR 0 to 5 in 3 months without much promo work or any link buying/exchanging at all.

    Yes I keep my that website and yes it has backlinks also.

    You are right, I personally know a person who has PR 5 in two months only. I think this is google's own technique to promote his product "Blogger".
