I came to this forum and i had never submitted my website to any directories, but now I saw lots of free directories here, so I m submitting to most of them. But i kno , if i go to much too fast, i mite get a sandbox penalty. So my question is how much is too much?
The sandbox is to do with the age of your site not the backlinks. Directories don't all approve right away so that actually helps. But if its a new site you probably shouldn't get too many because you'll end up with a whole lot of low quality inbound links and nothing else which the search engines will note.
Correct me if i m wrong, Sandbox penalty is imposed to sites which are new and they suddenly get lots of backlinks. I got a 6 months old website, is it new, also, I had 50K pageviews last month, is it good??
i think so. if you are a new website and got many backlink in a short time. i think you will be take in to sandbox. if you have a old domain name .maybe that not happen.
Submit to all the directories you want, links will still trickle in at a natural rate. Most directory submissions take a good while to be accepted. You'll be getting links 3 or 4 months from now as well as in the next few weeks. Not to mention the fact that Google will have to deep crawl every directory and register your link. I wouldn't worry about.
I think Google would attack only is they know you're trying to acquire links overnight like a submission service that puts you in 500 dirs. I've been pushing a new site since sep big time. I make sure to get all types of links. Blog, Dirs, Forums, Comments, resource pages and as much industry related as possible.
6 months old is probably old enough. But it's good idea to build links rather slowly. Directory submissions probably will not build links fast as many have said.
Lots of people here talking about submit to directory... I am not sure it's the way to go... I've submit to hundreds of them with my home page and it has a lower PR then my blog which has nothing but related back links.... I say try to get some sites that is related to your site ... submit to directory is your last option.
No, the Sandbox penalty is supposedly imposed on new sites trying to rank for highly competitive keywords. Adam Lasnik of Google claims that it doesn't really exist, but thats not for this thread.
About the google sandbox, I werer not in the top 1000 for my keyword results, after exactly one year site birthday, I appeared in top 15, top 10 and top 5 for many keywords... And about getting links too fast, my opinion is that you can build 100/month staying under google filters.
You can sumbit to a loooot of directories ... it's helpful I think 20-30 per week ... it's fine Cheers
submit your site to as many directories as it'll definitely help improve your link popularity though it wasn't much of a quality rather than having your link on more related site...maybe 10 a day will be enough...and those directories if you use free service it'll definitely takes time...
