Does having a paid link on aviva, sevenseek etc give you traffic?

Any experience with this? If I would buy a link on a paid directory like seven seek or aviva for example , will it only give me page rank or will it give me some traffic also?

Any of you have a paid link in there and if so does it help? Thanks!

You are referring to 2 directories that offer good value
But most directories don't deliver heavy traffic, but I much prefer limited traffic from directories as usually it is traffic that will convert/or may convert which of course helps maintain our ROI

I have a featured at Aviva, and receive some traffic, but of course thats not the priority reason I paid for the listing there.

I wonder with what terms people use to find aviva or alive so that they can also go to those links listed there?

I think their keywords are "web directory" but, for example, not "computer parts". Then many PC related sites that are listed in them can't really expect traffic from them?

I think many list links for PR not really for traffic except certain directories.

    Excellent point.
I don't get much traffic from my DMOZ listings either but they help me on search engines somewhat (though other links are important too).

Interesting responses, I see directories are pretty useless when it comes to sales from what you guys say, and its just good for the search engine result pages, thus to be found faster on google or yahoo etc. So basically they are only good for link building.. ?

We have converted many leads with have received from Directory traffic but the leads are not many, but they are regular so hence they have a value, because if we were not listed we would not get any traffic from that source anyway

So in our opinion it is better to be listed to get the benefits

Generally, yes. But it all depends on how they are promoting.

For example, if a business directory is promoting it with keyword "business software" and rank high at Google, then listing your business software link on it should be very valuable because you can expect people to find the directory, then they will more likely click on your link.

On the other hand, a business directory with high PR but nowhere in SERPs will not help you much with traffic and ROI. The only value is probably the PR.

The bottom line is really either PR benefit or traffic.

I have a directory that is promoted with keyword "*** information" with relatively high rank at Google SERPs. And the niche of this directory is obviously ***, so people come from SEs also check the links that are listed on my directory. It makes perfectly sense.

Check the directory's keywords and how they are promoting. If they are not ranked high in SERPs with good keywords, then you can't expect any traffic from them, even with a niche directory.

Directories are nothing more than ways of getting free backlinks and help you increase your pr, i have not seen any hit from any directory i submitted my site to.

I get some hits from paid directories, from free is very rare unless you have a featured listing.

If the directory category ranks high for a search term you can get traffic, this normally happens more um niche directories.

General directories mostly used for backlinks only, to increase your PR.
The final goal is get more traffic from search engine.
Directory that probably can bring some traffic is a good niche or maybe local directory type.
