anyone out there got a moment for me? could you appriase my site for dmoz listing, i have submitted but am waiting. the site is www.forums.ukfashionhouse.com it is quite young, in its third month. seems to be popular it has real members and some news feeds. any suggestions? I have submitted it to http://dmoz.org/Business/Arts_and_Entertainment/Models/Resources/ we have a modelling section & agencies sections which is really popular and viewed a lot for people interested in high fashion. thanks in advance
I like it, and I know some people in your industry and will show it to them to think what they say. It looks like it's going places. Mike
The root is already appropriately listed and it in turn contains a link to the forum (though it doesn't exactly jump to the eye). 1. Have you read http://dmoz.org/add.html ? 2. Why would we want to list a subsite that you yourself don't seem to think is very important? ODP doesn't consider the age of a website at all. It places the emphasis on the content. If it's good, there's no reason to delay listing it.
Hi LeopardAt1 Well its all new content. There are some websites & pointing no fingers... like BT who have 1000+ listings in dmoz... thanks, DPlurker i'll look into that and your question about the forum link, good point. I in process of redesigning the whole home page & there is going to be equal significance for our forum and as well as the blog. currently the home page has two links to the blog and only one to the forum. thanks!
For the avoidance of doubt, please make no (further) listing suggestions of subdomains or deeplinks on the ukfashionhouse.com domain.
Hi DPlurker Sorry but you have me confused, dmoz does list subdomains. i've just checked and come across quite a few. I did this before ny one on only submission of the url. Is there site critera that some people/companies are allowed to submit subdomains and are others may not (i'm being frank) my intent is quite legitimate and is not for personal gain but to tell web visitors about a free forum. thanks for your input.
Indeed it does, but that's at editorial discretion. Website owners, or others for that matter, shouldn't be suggesting them. Your main website and its associated forum are related. The submission guidelines at http://dmoz.org/add.html forbid the suggestion of related websites - which is why I asked if you'd read them. Apparently not.
well thanks for your input DPlurker, I have this feeling that you have an anger towards me with some sarcasm, as i have already said i was genuine in my submission of my url and was looking for feedback. Anyway negative or positive feedback aside, its all feedback, so cheers for that. you know i thought it would be great to have a website that has a forum and a blog about a related subject, and fyi I thoroughly read the regs that you refer to. anyway thanks again for your input. please do not post again on this thread as there’s no need for any tit for tat in this forum. cheers
Ok, you submitted your forum subdomain and want feedback. Fair enough. So, DPlurker requested that you make no (further) listing suggestions of subdomains or deeplinks on the ukfashionhouse.com domain. And he told you why. I may have said it a bit nicer (sugar coated) but I would have given the same advise. Yes, the criteria is that subdomains may be listed by editors at their discretion and that they are not to be submitted by site owners or non-editors. It's in the guidelines, you must have missed that part. I think you need to leave your feelings out of this, they are not relevant. DPlurker gave you a valid review from a DMOZ point of view. I agree with it. To be perfectly clear, my agreement with DPlurker's posts have nothing to do with any potential your forum has; I also agree with Blogmaster's comments. It show's promise and may be listed at some point when it has more content, but it will be at an editor's discretion and not because you demand it. Whoops, this crosses the line of forum etiquette. If you really feel this way you should ask a moderator to close this thread. Otherwise anyone has the freedom to post here. Even people like me who happen to agree with DPlurker.
Hi Compostannie yes, as Dplurker mentioned it looks like i missed an area of the regs..! ah well, never mind.:rolleyes thanks!
