A new toy I wrote yesterday, for your Directories...

So you remember my New and Improve PageRank :D, well yesterday I wanted to try my hand at something new.

I'm not one to buy other peoples stuff, and lets face it, I needed the practice, because my scripting knowledge is not even a year old yet, and I still have lots to learn and some specifics to master. So to verse myself in a specific sector i decided to write my own little tool. :p

    I grab the following:

    GAYlexa
    GAYgle
    GAYhoo
    MSGAY
    AltaGAYsta
    AllTheGAY
    GAYpile
    GAYsk
    WiseGAY

It takes about 4-5 seconds to poll for the results on average, which I personally feel is extremely fast, since I am grabbing 9 different places which roughly equates to about 1/2 second per check.

So go ahead and check your back links and test it out.
    Back Links Checker

    <! -- The End ---!>

edit: btw, if there is a SE that you'd like to see added, just post it and i'll see whether or not if it can be done.

    Good job, anon.
Maybe you can make one of those little boxes they can post on their site as long as they link back to your page. :)
(and archive the results for faster delivery)

That can be easily done with the method to allow for people to poll.

As far as archiving it, I like to keep things real-time, but I do understand what you're saying.

I have my alexa MOD incorporated into directorydump and it is archived, and i update it weekly with a cronjob.

Just to give you an idea, I believe this site went from pagerank 3 to 7 on the last update:
    http://www.mypagerank.net/
That is sort of what I'm getting at.

Anon i do not understand why google says Results 1 - 30 of about 73 linking to www.sbclansite.com when i do link:www.sbclansite.com
    and
    Results 1 - 30 of about 3,570 from www.sbclansite.com for site:www.sbclansite.com

And you site gives : 10,600Google Backlinks
    7,970 Google Indexed Pages

why does your algo. differs from googles? Is there any bugs that have not been sorted out yet? Or is this tool just a small test and fun thing?

you do realize that you may hit an alternative DC which gives different output, right?

I mean, that is pretty much common knowledge, paidhosting.

as far as the 'fun' factor; yes, i have taken the past two evenings off to learn and try to master some new stuff.\

and btw, the http and the www. is stripped no matter the url you put in. so your url would be link:sbclansite.com

    nice job though very plain....
Tried to did something similiar (think it's still not too good) here:
    www.all4seo.net/link_popularity_checker.php

And one more toy, nice for PLD owners.
Link popularity for each listing on your dir.
    Eg. www.all4seo.net/detail/link-63.html
Also ready to grab data from AllThe Web and Altavista.
Details are updated automatically once a week.

This toy is available as a PhpLD mod in my pack (see the FOOTER)

Big difference between buying a script and writing one.
When you write it, you can pull from everywhere, like I am doing.
When you buy it, you are limited. Be certain you aren't selling someone else's work and passing it as your own. Be certain that it is compatible across the board. I'd put money on it that yours will not work on dreamhost hosting. Mine will; again, because I wrote it from scratch and know what needs to be done for cross platform scalability.

As far as plainness, i just wrote the thing yesterday. and this is a test. So relax. i can make it all pretty and flashy and AJAX driven, but this is a testing grounds.
