Do Big Affiliate Programs Mean Good Affiliate Programs?

Why do all recommend Affiliate Programs with a HUGE number of publishers? HUGE means well-known, does well-known mean good? It seems that there is a confusion of concepts. Who agrees?

There is a reason that an program has a huge number affiliates, it is usually cause their offers perform well and they pay on time.

There are a lot of fly by night afifliate networks that will be gone in a few months. Which is why it is good to get suggestions from other people but also don't rely on one network to heavily unless you are sure they will be around a long time and even then I can't stand to put ALL my eggs in one basket.

Huge affiliates may not be the best for a beginner.
Smaller but well established networks may be better in the beginning, when your volumes are low.
Of course, you should avoid 'fly by night afifliate networks'

This is not neccessarily the case... as sometimes you get tied into a smaller network that has lower payout then the bigger guys even with no huge volume most of the time the bigger networks have higher payouts (not always) but when you are starting out with low volume that extra .10 or 1.00 a lead can make a huge difference......

because a lot of affiliates are lazy and just build directory/mall sites in hopes of ranking for even just a few of the popular brand names they list.

if you're willing to do the work, smaller niches and indie programs can easily out perform the big guys.

Huge programs with thousands of affiliates - well it CAN mean it's a good program.

But also there will be more competition and/or the market could be over-saturated.

Also the larger networks tend to be blocked more by anti-spyware programs.

So bigger isn't necessarily better in our industry.
But big can also be good - just depends on the circumstances.

I would say that is not always true. Some big affiliate programs are so big they cant deliver that quality you expect. It is like Walmart they are just so BIG there customer service just isn't that great!. Look at moreniche and worldniche, both are smaller affiliate programs and there affiliate support is some of the best I have seen. That is why I continue to promote them, and help others promote them also. I figure If I can do it anyone can and for signing up with me I am greatful and willing to help you with the program for FREE!:D

Big Affiliate Programs have a great many of Publishers who promote one and the same products and banners. In the mean time these banners lose their exclusiveness as being much appealed to.

You assertion is WRONG! Totally wrong and I am a living of this claim. Right now, I am a member of an amazing affiliate program that beats all those so-called ‘BIG’ affiliate network hands down.

Let me tell you a blunt truth here:

What is responsible why most people are parking themselves onto those “BIG” affiliate programs like sardine is what some people called Herd Mentality Factor. For example, I wonder why thousands of people should cram themselves unto Clickbank, Commission Junction and the likes, yet only few of them are making good money.

Does that tell you a GOOD story or something to cheer of? Look through this forum and read people’s threads and posts about these affiliate networks – what do you often see? Complaints, useless % affiliate commission, difficulty in registration, arrogant support staff, lack of direction and training, poor management and so on.

    Only few success stories

In fact, have you thought in your heart – why should people come to the open (in a forum like this) to ask and LOOK for ideas about how to succeed with these affiliate networks?

Well the answer is simple…they are bare and lack inside training ground!

Thankfully, I do not have to worry my head about such “BIG” network any more. Today, I mingle, on a daily basis, with super affiliates that we belong to a dynamic and amazing affiliate program you may not have heard of or even underrate to your own shortage.

And, we are sharing success formulas, ideas, resources and making BIG money with the peace of mind. Now, please try to ponder this in your mind…

…the same efforts that give you a paltry $20 or $30 from clickbank will pump between $30 to $175 (and more) into my own pocket! :D

If you want to discover more about this, then read my story here…

There are much more important things to look at to judge the effectiveness of an affiliate program beyond just size.

Decide first what you want to promote. Think about your interests first, then do some research to see if there's a market that can be tapped for those interests. Then identify some merchants that fill those interests and have affiliate programs.

Search online and in forums for what people are saying about the program. What kind of buzz does it have?

Are the landing sites designed well? Will they be able to close the sale once you refer a customer to the site?

What kind of threshold must be met and how often do they pay out? What's the conversion rate? What's the average order value?

Many other things to look at first, but this gives you an idea.

I agree with most of your points mate.

Guys who are not considering these valid points are the ones struggling online today. They are also the ones that get spanked by so-called gurus who're churning ebooks about Clickbank and stuff like that.

A word is enough for the wise... :)

Large affiliate program can mean good conversions due to a high EPC in CJ. however, programs with a lot of affiliates can be saturated in the search results, especially for coupon sites and codes. There is always money to made despite the competitive amount of affiliates if you are good at finding niche and long-tail keywords to target for traffic.

Well, If your just starting out, A small Affiliate Network may be your only game in town. Large Networks do have more affiliate offers (Some Good & Some Bad), But they are very hard to join now and require numbers that most small websites can't meet. If your starting out, go with a trusted smaller Affiliate Network and move up to the larger Affiliate network that has high converting ads. Sometimes how the offer converts is more important then getting the extra 5 cents per lead. I have run the same offers from 2 different Large Affiliate Networks with very different results. Test the waters is always a good bet.
