I had a paid traffic but not getting any traffic I thought why not ask other great paid/premium directory owners.. From where did you get those paid directory submitters ? I mean how you get the main traffic ? From google search, or signature links or directory lists etc.. Please let me know to make my directory go ahead.
Its not easy and it takes time but you are always working hard so that is one key requirement PM me maybe we can help you a little
Yea, Google search is important. Have hundreds top positions on some important keywords from submitters point of view, eg. 'loans submit url'. Also offering something free or interesting is a nice idea. As I have little knowledge of php, smarty etc, I can develope mods for PhpLD, do lot of interesting things, also help other directory owners with some custom code. That's very helpful too. Being listed on some great directory resource is also important.
I think that promotions are what get the ball rolling. I see a lot of people offering 1 regular link free with a featured link, things like that get peoples attention and they come and buy than.
A good way is to rent signature space from members with many posts. I've just submitted a site in my sig, to britishguy's directory after seeing it in his signature, while reading this post. And i have submitted to many directories this way
Generally, you need lots of traffic to your site, hoping some would buy links at your directory. But it's not bad idea to target some smaller section of interested people. I have sold to 2 links just few days ago with over $100 yearly. Business owners don't mind paying that much. I would think where you target is so important. You don't want to sell stuff on eBay where you get tons of targeted traffic, but they expect you to sell *cheap. You know what I mean?
i would say ... buy tons and tons and tons of backlinks .... digg articles << every time u make something new post there Del.icio << one of the good ones Stumbleupon << most of all free templates sponsorship or if u design it ...
Agree, and make your directory unique and the content original, people would like to go unique sites Make your directory useful, free templates would be good idea
Submit your directory in other link directories. Publish articles about links, link directories. Set up a blog. Sumit it in blog directories. Promote your link directory from blog. Offer something unique to your visitors.
What I was asking is From where are you getting the submitters ? Like looking at your cpanel awstats or other stats- can you tell the major source of paid submitters ?
You need to promote it, buy links for it. talk about it regularly submit to free and paid directories here buy people signatures etc... when many people notice you promoting your directory well ... when the people realize that "yes a link from this directory is worth it" then they will purchase. If you directory is powerful, you can get good sales at DP itself.
Buying signature links on well reputed forums, be sure your paid directory is included in all other Directories Resources sites (list of directories, directory of directories, directory blogs) Also, getting exposure by submitting your directory in other high quality paid directories, like Alive, Aviva, eWebPages and so on. Beside all, buying featured listings in other high traffic and established free directories.
To be honest, i don't see the point in this Call me silly but i never submit to a directory for traffic unless it cost's me $299. I prefer to hit the websites where people are looking to buy links, like you said directory blogs, directory lists etc...
Getting listed on high traffic Free Directories result in exposure in that particular category, say category is "Web Directories" A high quality free directory contains about 200 plus submissions with more than 6 or 7 pages in that category and getting Featured Listing in that category, will be benficial in all respects, generating back links and getting more exposure for your directory. Whereas getting listed on High Quality paid directories, such as Alive, Aviva etc... it will give an idea to advertiser that how keen is the directory owner for the strength of his directory
I agree with coolweb -- Featured links give traffic as well as SEO value Regular links have only SEO value (unless the category have less listings )
